I don't know how often this needs to be said, but literally the only reason that Captain Marvel did as well as it did was due to its position in the MCU lineup: the peak of the franchise, smack dab between the two capstone movies, with a not-so-subtle implication from the Infinity War post-credits scene that you'd need to see it if you wanted to understand Endgame fully. If they tried releasing it today, I guarantee it wouldn't do nearly as well. I'm not going to be surprised if The Marvels flops pretty badly later this year.

The big question I have when I see this is "Why?" He didn't need to be on camera to do this explanation. He could have picked one color and gone with it instead of flashing through multiple colors.
