That's not funny at all. I've never got the Carlin worship that people seem to go in for (not directed at you,
@Kheapathic -- just talking about it in general.) Carlin is to Lenny Bruce as Denis Leary is to Bill Hicks. Thin, weak imitations of the real thing.
He did that 'hippie weatherman' skit for almost the whole of his career. It was piss poor. And the rest of his act was just typical elitie bourgeoisie looking down and sneering at those he felt were his intellectual inferiors because they disagreed with him politically.
So when you look at today's terrible US late night ups -- your Kinnels, your Colberts, your Trevor Noah's and your Fallons -- they all idolize Carlin, and see themselves as the bearers of his torch.
And they aren't wrong. because they do the same kind of sneering, not funny bullshit that Carlin used to do. Even his one definitive routine -- six words you can't say on TV (or however many it was) was just pedestrian and dull to anyone who wasn't a fucking moron. And that was head and shoulders above the rest of his material.
I like American stand-up comedy. Americans defined the genre and historically have dominated it, the best being head and shoulders above the rest of the world. But Carlin isn't fit to kiss the feet of people like Richard Prior, Sam Kiniston, Bill Hicks, Norm McDonald, etc. etc. etc.
