My christian response and perspective to Dick would be that if

They are in pain
They cannot control their "addiction" (meaning that they cannot stop themselves from acting against children)
They are in danger of committing suicide

Then they meet the standard of being "a danger to themselves and others". They need to be seperated from normal society and institutionalized. Institutionalized for their own sake and the safety of the community as a whole.

If (as Vito says) its a mental illness and if (as Dick says) that they cannot control their behavior, they have met the standard for involantary commitment. A christian would say that they if they are mentally ill, they deserve humane treatment. But there is nothing that says they need to be allowed to run free in society while claiming to be mentally ill. If someone is intent on self-harm and harming others, the christian thing to do is take away their ability to do those things.

But I would guess that the underlying thing they want to push here is the decriminalization of CP and social acceptance of Pedos in society.
