OK, not half as bad as I'd thought. The Porky/Elmer bit of the routine anyway. But the rest of it is typical Carlin. It's just him lecturing his audience about why people who don't agree with him are wrong. It's the birth of identity politics. People go to see a comedian because he articulates their political views, not because his jokes are funny.

Back in the day when Carlin was hot shit, I used to think he was good as well. But I liked him because he was articulating a political position I agreed with, not because I thought he was funny. He was 'our tribe' basically.
As I've gotten older, I've come to think his politics (by which I really mean my politics back then) were juvenile and lacked nuance. Rather than making the world a better place, I think they've made it far worse.

I do wonder how many of Carlin's fans were whooping it up when Twitter banned Trump? I bet it was a pretty high proportion. (I have lots of these people among my FB friends -- aging boomers who loved Carlin.) They don't want 'free speech' as much as they want their opinions to dominate the media/culture and they tend to be happy when speech that THEY disagree with gets shut down.

I've notices this change in behavior in suicidal people or those close to death due to illnesses. Realization of the approaching end and making peace with it leads to "who cares, it's all over soon anyway" mentality and gives moral freedom to do whatever a person wants/"missed out on". Nick said he's only got until he's 55 to do whatever, and so the approach to life, actions and their consequences changes.

You'd think it wouldn't be this way but it do.

I believe so, yes. When Nick attended the Tonkasaw-Warski fight (which didn't happen), he and Kayla stayed at Doug's house. There's a ancient livestream where they're all sitting together. It might be "lost media" though given that Doug's old YT channel was yeeted by Susan.

I predict that Nick will say he's one of those new age "Christians" that believe stupid shit like there is no hell, everyone goes to heaven, "muh God is love, all love is God" etc. However it's more likely he denounces Christianity altogether by the end of 2023. Fedora tipping atheist arc incoming.

You know what? Maybe he, Dick, Drex, and Vito should go join the Children of God; they condone grooming minors and say its ordained by God. They could be Karen Zerbey's new henchmen. Maybe even the new Moses David.

I think he is only nominally christian for the wife at this point anyway. If he can convince her to move out of Minnesota and gaslight her in the appropriate ways, I would imagine he will be able to drop the whole christian thing entirely. By getting the family to abandon church and getting the family to celebrate "jewish feasts" rather than christian holidays, he is already pretty close to it.

A lot of people are wearing those silicone wedding bands now. I guess the idea is that you won't damage or lose the original. I can sort of get it but on the other hand if you're getting your hands dirty in literal dirt at work, you can just not wear your ring to work. It's weird.

I've also heard that black silicone bands mean they're open/swingers. However, black is a popular color for anything because it's simplistic and doesn't clash, so I wouldn't assume every person with a black band is a degenerate.

This is old news, he's been wearing the silicone band for years. He doesn't want to break/lose/whatever the original.
