paraphrased of course but he throws in these tiny little pieces of his normality. they usually come in his slow times, after he just blew his 700 dollars, but doesn't ragequit and can pretend to reflect. i think most people checkout during those parts. unfortunately the $4.50 gasser shows up and he falls back into the void.

the actual goals are meaningless because he does all in his power to lose every penny to a cartoon cat but he still has some standard, young man, general aspirations somewhere in the back of his head; it's just that he thinks it will come from roulette.

This does add another layer to his character knowing that he's not just a mindless automaton pushing buttons and getting angry. In a strange way I can sort of see his retarded strategy for getting out of the situation he finds himself in.

He thinks that all he has to do is hit it big once and then all his problems will be solved once he gets this exorbitant amount of money. However in his mind the benefit is that he only needs to win big once, and he has a virtually infinite amount of chances to keep doing it forever.

I actually encountered a person with a similar type of thinking before, while working at a minimum wage job. His idea was that every week he'd spend $20 on powerball tickets and his thought was since there's no limit to the amount of times he can enter he would win eventually given enough time. I asked him what if he just saved the $20 every week. His response was something like, "Well $20 isn't a lot each week and when I win I'll be back in the positive again anyway".
