While her identity theft woes late last year were still ongoing, she claimed that her druggie ex-boyfriend (also homeless, like her), was paying other homeless men to stalk and harass her. She made a lot of calls to local law enforcement, demanding that they do something about it, but she never had any proof that she was being stalked, and frankly, the cops really don't give a fuck about homeless people and their drama, because it's just never-ending. So she posted to Craigslist, begging somebody to let her borrow a video camera, or come sit with her and record the harassment. Needless to say, that didn't work out. So she kept making angry posts about how the cops refused to help her.
At the end of December, once the identity theft issue was resolved, she got her bank account back, and received her missed SSDI payments, she took off back to the East Coast, where she had previously spent nearly a year trying to find her imaginary perfect place to live that would solve all her problems. There was one city she lived in for about six months before leaving it over some kind of homeless crazy-person drama, and that's where she went.
From the moment she arrived, she was making posts to Craigslist about a creepy man hanging out in his truck at a certain park, allegedly watching women come and go. Then she made ranting posts about how the cops wouldn't do anything about it. Then she made more begposts for someone to come get video evidence of this creepy dude.
Over the following weeks, she kept ranting on Craigslist about her "stalker" in his black pickup, who she now kept encountering all over town, and the total lack of concern displayed by the police. Given that she couldn't even name the make of the truck despite having seen it numerous times in broad daylight, then could only say that it was an American make, then finally posted a series of blurry nighttime potato pics of a Toyota Tacoma (without even getting the license plates), well, no shit the cops weren't taking her seriously.
Keep in mind that she's 50 years old, homeless for about a decade, kind of fat, in crappy health, with bad teeth and a worse blonde dye job. She's no prize. But she used to be pretty, can still land herself a boyfriend from among her fellow gronks, and thus, in true Narc fashion, still has it in her head that she's beautiful, and that someone might want to sexually traffic her.
Rather than change her behavior and routines, dye her hair, or pick up and move somewhere else, she started waging a one-woman Craigslist war against this alleged "creeper," and all of the creepy men who hung out in their vehicles at the park. She was also ranting about how she, newly arrived back in town after nearly a year away, couldn't get into housing, or how her only option was six-month transitional housing meant to get her employed and back on her feet (Laurelle has insisted she is so disabled she cannot work, yet wants to attend an MFA program in Fine Art and get a job as a college art professor, because that's Laurelle for you).
Finally, in April, she decided she'd had enough, and that she was going to head back out west, to the same city where the identity theft happened. A social worker contacted her estranged sister, Linda (who spent way too many years sheltering Laurelle and putting up with her Cluster B bullshit before growing a spine). Linda agreed to pay for a plane ticket so Laurelle could take her drama back across the country.
Linda, by the way, was estranged enough that when their mother was finally dying a year ago, she didn't bother to contact Laurelle; Laurelle only found out after the funeral. That sounds cold, but given the amount of drama and conflict Laurelle always brought with her on visits to her hometown, it was the sanest choice. Their mom didn't have much, and most of it went to her brother, whom she despises, because he lived with their sick, aged parents and took care of the family home for years. Laurelle got nothing, and she blames her siblings for that—because looking at her own behavior and some of the insane, awful shit she's pulled, and why that would justify disinheriting her, just isn't happening.
Anyway, she arrived back out west in May, and by mid-June she'd picked up another "stalker." Then, a couple of weeks later, that stalker was working in tandem with another guy. Then she was being gangstalked. She identified two guys on the sex offender registry who she believes are the ones targeting her, and has posted about them, by name, photos included, on Craigslist (whether these are the actual guys she keeps seeing is doubtful, given her lack of observational skills, so I've flagged those posts).
Now she's going on about how there's a massive, underground criminal network in the city that the cops won't even acknowledge, much less do anything about, and that the cops have engaged in a smear campaign to discredit her. They even went so far as to call law enforcement in the city she just retuned from to see if she was on their radar—which she was, for making the exact same sorts of stalker claims. And, of course, she was already known from her previous time living there for making similar reports; even before the "my ex is paying homeless addicts to stalk me," there were a few one-offs.
Even her Google reviews are full of accounts of store employees being intentionally rude and malicious to her, attempting to frighten or upset her, dismissing her complaints—she's a victim of others' intentional malice everywhere she goes. Of her seventeen reviews, only one isn't a one-star airing of her grievances—it's a two-star airing of her grievances.
So Laurelle has an established pattern, and who even knows if there's any reality behind any of the things she says have happened? She obviously believes it's real, but she's got an IQ of about 90 and has always been delusional even at the best of times. After a decade of homelessness I'm not surprised she's become increasingly paranoid (seriously, that kind of long-term, chronic stress will really fuck with your ability to think rationally, put things into a realistic perspective, and problem-solve effectively, even if you don't have an intractable personality disorder). One cop told her to stop bothering them when no crime has been committed, and has allegedly told her she needs a psych eval, prompting this weird-ass post (which kind of encapsulates how badly her brain is working these days):
No, she wasn't raped; she's trying to make a point, but is too wrapped up in her own story, and too cognitively impaired, to do it.
In the past, Laurelle has described getting in trouble at the few jobs she's had for being a "whistleblower," and she sees herself as someone who stands up for what's lawful, right, and fair. She's not, and when she does decry things she perceives to be wrong or unjust, she inevitably creates an even bigger mess because she can only see problems, not solutions. She's a black-and-white thinker with zero empathy or ability to work cooperatively with others. But she'll keep on ranting about whoever she has decided is her enemy (and is thus evil), and nothing will convince her she's wrong. Laurelle is never wrong.
And as she gets more paranoid, and makes wilder accusations against specific individuals, and annoys law enforcement into dismissing everything she says, I suspect Laurelle's going to end up in a ditch somewhere, before too long. She'll be the nail who finally encounters an actual hammer after years of accusing various wrenches, screwdrivers, and bent butter knives of being one.
