Megathread Jesse Singal Derangement Syndrome - jsingal69 vs TroonWorld

For the record, I think Katie's response is far more rational and I agree with her more than I do with Singal. I just think an unintended consequence of Singal's enduring calm liberal temperament is that it makes troons seethe like no one else can.
He also talks about tactics a lot, so perhaps his ‘live and let live’ attitude is slyer than it seems. Impressive if true, although it never worked for JK Rowling and likely wouldn’t for Katie either.

Jesse called into Majority Report today. I have only been able to listen to a couple mins so far, but it's already infuriating
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=ZSiDvY0QHvA&t=6626s (@1:50:00)

Summary from r/blockedandreported (link). Apparently Emma backs out of coming on BAR lol of course.
Finally Jesse’s call
  • Begins with obligatory complaints about sound quality
  • Jesse explains that they probably agree on much more than they disagree
  • Sam says I don’t care, look how your work is being used and compared it to a piece in the HuffPost during the Iraq War in defense of torture. Or something
  • Jesse asks for specifics from his work they’d like to criticize which is clearly not necessary because they both know his work and don’t know it from Adam and besides we all agree torture is abhorrent
  • Digressions about conservatives vs Rep AGs and briefs in an email exchange I found hard to follow
  • Jesse tried to engage Emma on standards of care/medical consensus.
  • Sam and Emma lure Jesse into cleverly laid trap of admitting that he doesn’t think the Reed allegation have been completely debunked
  • Emma nobly backs out of appearing on the podcast in favor of an activist or actual trans person
Overall thoughts:
  • I truly don’t understand the appeal of the show
  • Whole exchange felt like a less coherent Twitter beef with with Sam constantly talking over people
  • Feel bad for Jesse although it does kind of prove his point that almost none of his critics actually engage with his work. No desire to view things as complicated or to allow for nuance and/or uncertainty. Just happy to revel in the smug certainty of one’s self righteously correct beliefs.
Anything I missed?

In Defense of Torture, by Sam Harris (archive)
Sam Seder: world champion headline-reader. Body text, not so much.
Sam Harris said:
Given the damage we were willing to cause to the bodies and minds of innocent children in Afghanistan and Iraq, our disavowal of torture in the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed seems perverse.
(Also Sam Seder: world champion of getting mad when somebody says "hey! we're damaging innocent childrens' bodies and minds over here!")

Vigeland looked like a child who had been forced to admit that she stole a candy bar when she backed out of the interview, but she's feisty now that she's back in her safe space:

Why did she bother with the "out schedules don't match up" excuse when she had already agreed to go on BAR pod?

I saw that Jesse responded to the WaPo article about Kiwi Farms, mostly just "this is a bad article with bad journalism, please fact check the assertions made by your interviewees" but it was heartening to see.

These people truly do live in an alternate reality. Saw this comment at 1:53:56, about a minute into the call (unfortunately, as an ex-Sam Seder fan it was too painful to go further)
Screen Shot 2023-09-05 at 17.40.03.png
At this point Sam has said virtually nothing. He has claimed that Jesse "distorts the importance of this issue [trooning out children]... and are so fervent at pointing out the minutiae... in the face of what is actually happening on the ground" and promised to bring up an example that doesn't involve Jesse, oh, and also Sam made a snide comment about Jesse being TAHXIC. That's a fat nothingburger. Even without actually engaging with what Sam said, there's nothing there yet. Not that what he said was intelligent. He seems to have a problem forming an actual sentence, but I guess his point is that Jesse is focusing on what Sam considers edge cases of youth transition going wrong, but even if those were edge cases (which Sam takes for granted because the trans activists tell him that they are), 1 in a hundred children being mutilated by a treatment is still too important to ignore. Trans policies obviously negatively impact a tiny part of the population, but there's no way in hell that they'd accept an argument that it only affects tiny part of the population.

I truly don’t understand the appeal of the show
Sam used to be a lot better and used to have better chemistry with the crew. I don't really remember Emma being on the show back when I used to watch it, but goddamn she's just horrible and I don't know why she's clearly being groomed to be the next host. It's not a show for everyone, but as a smug liberal it was a guilty pleasure.

I think you're making a mistake about the purpose of it for the audience. I would consider it similar to The Daily Show or whatever back in the day, or John Oliver more recently perhaps, the higher brow critique that sometimes surfaces in the work is irrelevant to the mass of the audience who just wants to see people they hate called stupid and awful. The audience knows that Jesse Singal is Bad and that The Majority Report crew is Good and they come to not just see Good defeat Evil but Good defeat Evil so simply and easily that it's trivial. They don't want a fair fight, they don't want content that challenges them, they don't want to have to reconsider that which causes their cognitive dissonance, they want to feel like they've won because the team they support has won. They want to win so much they get tired of winning.

Jesse could never have addressed their complaints about him because the complaints aren't about him, they're about the fact that BAD PEOPLE ARE DOING BAD THINGS. Jesse's relevance is the fact that he won't wear the ribbon which makes him fair game to bully. Who the fuck does Jesse think he is? Thinking he's better than everyone and can just "evaluate the evidence" and "question obvious mistakes" when the only hope we have against the powerful evil forces is our solidarity in our faith. Does Jesse not realize what his "questions" might do to someone's soul if they take it seriously?

According to Jesse, he was still emailing her about a time, gave her a couple of options and said "one of these will work for me, just not the first date you suggested."

Maybe he should call Joe Lavery? He's always up for a debateHAHAHAHA.

Sam is still sniping at him via Michael Hobbes.

The genesis of this spat was that Emma Vigeland read a libelous email about him on the air and he dared to post about it and ask for a retraction.

@Manat has the rest here.

a bit more context that makes this even worse — the OCD child in question from Jamie Reed’s affidavit was sent to the gender clinic and given hormones was not identifying as trans.
Jesse and Jamie Reed are “garbage human beings” for questioning whether this is appropriate treatment for a mentally ill child

Sam Sneeder's still cranky at Jesse today.

(from Ed Gentry on Twitter.)
Edit; some screencaps from Jesse on twitter (archive)
Jesse Singal said:
Here's the ENTIRE exchange. No selective snippets. @SamSeder knew the brief he kept referencing misrepresented my work, because I pointed this out to him very clearly, with links. He kept repeating this and then, when called on it, had to frantically feign moronic confusion.

Destiny watched the Jesse vs Sam Sneeder debate on his stream today. Don't know his clip schedule but some redditor or another found an alternative link.
edit: timestamp is 1h34m57s if the link doesn't skip to it automatically.
edit 2 dogwhistle boogaloo: up on one of Destiny's clip channels:

I think that today's episode of Blocked and Reported officially confirms that Katie does not regularly read Kiwi Farms, but Jesse might.

(Katie apparently had to find KF's current URL from Jesse)
I'm not sure if she knows what TLDs are.

Edit: here is them talking about it behind the paywall. Being this positive about the site (not a single throat-clearing condemnation of the "racism" and "slurs" that can allegedly be found here) definitely won't help his reputation with the Twitter troons.

Katie might be the only internet dramatist who doesn't keep close track of KF at all times, or at least she thinks using Tor and Telegram requires advanced technical skill beyond the reach of all but the most autistic computer-obsessed trannies.

Trace got into it with Walmart Mike (Mike Paulauski) who had a problem with Trace's "When Punch A Nazi Goes Wrong" substack article. Between Walmart Mike blocking everybody (although this time around, it was Walmart Mike who got blocked) and Twitter not cooperating with archive sites, it's kind of a pain in the ass to follow.

Here's Walmart Mike's thread on nitter, where Trace's tweets aren't displayed. Trace's side of the argument requires an individual nitter link for each tweet, so in as close to chronological order as I can figure out, here we go:
1) To clarify: do you think someone participating in edgy roleplay in a video game half a decade ago justifies the label “Nazi” for his boyfriend and wide-scale celebration of physical assault?
2) I understand you have made no claims about the assault—I think you should! People were spreading rumors en masse to justify assault on the basis of a demonstrably false idea that the victim was a Nazi. Do you see that as a problem or something to encourage?
3) I agree that Skaard seems to have been an anti-“SJW” edgelord in 2017. It’s absurd to claim on the basis of that alone that he deserves a “Nazi” label in 2023, particularly one that people eagerly apply to his boyfriend.
4) Nobody needs to do anything, but dodging around the question suggests a lack of courage in your convictions. Did Renn deserve the label “Nazi”, the assault, and the large-scale celebration of that assault?
5) “He’s a Nazi” and “he used to participate in edgy furry roleplay servers” are very different claims! I’m surprised by your implication that posting all the evidence under examination makes my assertions less credible. “Nazi” is an extreme label that merits weighty evidence.
6) It’s a simple question, posed after I’ve presented full context for the event under examination. If you dispute my framing—fine. Do you think he should have been hit with a megaphone and derided as a Nazi across the internet?
7) As entertaining as this sort of deflection is, I find it hard to take your outrage seriously without a direct answer here. If you support the assault, have the conviction to say it directly. If you oppose it—as you should—it will strengthen your case to say so.
8: Oh, I understand your issue with my reporting perfectly. What I also understand is your reluctance to commit loudly to a facially abhorrent position (Renn deserved to be assaulted) or to look as if you agree with me on anything by acknowledging that the assault and its celebration were bad. I get why you’re dodging the question, the reason just isn’t terribly flattering for you.

I don't think this shows up in any of the nitter links, but fucking lol dude:
