What Video caused you to stop watching a Youtuber?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.

I mentioned Drew Gooden earlier, maybe almost a year ago, when he was still wearing a mask like a faggot in 2022 doing videos in Florida. But I just want to be on record before it happens saying he's going to troon out or say he's nonbinary very soon, given the way he's put on weight and dyed his hair and wearing less ironic, more gay clothing.

Internet Investigator was never really good but I could put up with her accent, questionable research quality, and self-censorship for a while because she had a way of popping up with rabbit holes I hadn't heard of before. Then she decided to accuse a smaller YouTuber of being a serial killer and now she just makes me MATI.

Chosen Won is a Gen X Michigan guy that used to make videos of himself driving around Detroit, going up north, eating, and his pets. He's not exactly a great content creator but his old driving videos have a particular "riding in the car with dad, going nowhere in particular and taking the long way" comfy rust belt nostalgia. I found him years ago when he filmed himself getting approached by Homeland Security for standing around recording Zug Island and still throw on an old video from time to time when I'm under the weather or stressed.

At some point he started talking to crack whores and homeless people about their lives, which got him into Soft White Underbelly's recommendation algorithm and he got some traction on that content. He started making more interview videos, got a regular rotation of faces, and a larger viewer base. Can't really blame him for leaning into it, but people started donating money and supplies to specific subjects of his videos and it got kind of messy and dramatic. I quit paying attention around the time I clicked into one of his lives and he was going over a spreadsheet of donos for hoes to prove something to chat.

Well, despite the best intentions of the sheltered do-gooders in his chat, you can't just fix crack whores with a hundred dollars. In fact, giving a hundred dollars to or paying a phone bill for a crack whore is going to cause a lot more problems for both you and her than it's going to solve. And being a homeless crack whore in Detroit is going to dramatically increase your odds of turning up dead from any number of potential causes. So naturally over a few years some of the people he'd talked to died.

From her perch in Britbongistan, Internet Investigator took the list of dead junkies in Detroit and ran, trying to connect them to him directly in a video which is a big ball of what the actual fuck. The cherry on top if I remember right was that according to her he was racist and also gave his dog a burger. I can't even articulate how retarded and offensive I find it to come out and accuse someone of murdering prostitutes on your YouTube channel, let alone using "gave a dog fast food" as character evidence. I wish she was funny enough to be a cow, but she's just annoying.

did someone said just some guy and that one cuties video? yeah. i did like having his stuff as background noise, but after that, never opened anything by him.

Here's my experience with every Youtube Streamer I've watched so far:

YT Streamer: "Does a thing unrelated to Trans People"

Random Stream Donater: "What do you think about Trans People, YT Streamer?"

YT Streamer: "Starts aggressively gargling tranny cock. Bonus points if they mention someone in their close circle who trooned out."

Me: "I can't escape this shit. Oh wait, yes I can." *Unsubscribes.*

Every Fucking Time.

To add to what others have said about Deadwing Dork, I really want to continue liking his stuff, but find his political apologetics insufferable.
Watching his "Propaganda Power Hour" stream now (he's watching dumb Christian kids shit) and he's doing the capitalism bad shit (he's saying capitalism is the reason there's no new Rayman game?), and bringing up strawmen of children being gay and being disowned as his literal singular own on "religion". He is making 20 year old talking points that religious people just say "brown man bad". Saying PragerU are for "Floridian kids" (Why does this fucking state live free in American's heads?). Won't stfu about religious organizations child abuse when the mother fucker literally did a goonclown stream last week. That's what the religious parents are trying to stop their kids from becoming.
PragerU/JW.org are gay and cringe but holy shit Deadwing you're making them look good. Sorry if MATI.
EDIT: He literally brought up the recently debunked fake mass graves in Canada for his white guilt... fucking hell.

Terrible Writing Advice. I stopped watching him years ago after seeing someone point out how annoying he was getting, I think in this very thread.

I had this video auto-play the other night while I as on a writing/alt-history binge, watching a few AlternateHistoryHub videos. I thought that maybe I was just misremembering things, since it's been a while and I couldn't really remember what turned me off from the guy, so I let the video play. Besides, a video talking about different government forms in fiction and their strengths and weaknesses is a topic that I'm always interested in! Then Fascism came up around the halfway mark, and its whole section was basically "Fascism has NO strengths and EVERY weakness and it has never worked, and only LOSERS ever want to explore Fascism or think that it has any redeeming qualities! XD XD", and that was where I clicked off. I don't know if it gets any worse after that.

I know that it's Terrible Writing Advice, and that sarcasm and snark are kind of his thing, but something about that just didn't sit right with me. It was a little too...jarring? Like it wasn't just sarcastic commentary, or like he was scared to even tackle the subject. It felt really try-hardy. Is it just me?

The funny thing about his Goonclown stream was that I remember a not-insignificant portion of the chat even getting annoyed with his Troon apologism.

I've said it before, but the frequent moralfagging tangents in his streams are the reason why I find it impossible to sit through his content, despite him covering a lot of stuff that I enjoy. Like, my dude, you're talking about trans pedo gooners, schizo 1A Auditors, and autistic Mario adults on the internet, I doubt anyone who tunes into that stuff cares about being politically-correct.

Saber's videos lost a lot of depth for me, and The Cantina's autistic speech patterns became painfully apparent with speaking off the cuff. I haven't watched Saberspark in years, but the rumour (?) of his transition does not surprise me in the least, given his recent furry-baiting.
I don't know about transitioning, but he has been pushing "Sabie" lately, the clearly-fetishised genderswap of his regular avatar. Still, in current year? That's a red flag.

I haven't really followed him closely in the last few years, though. I put on one of his newer videos every now and then, but it just goes through one ear and out the other. I'm just not interested in any of the movies or shows he discusses nowadays, not to mention his content is just too safe. It's not like he was some edgy guy back in the day or anything, either, but his older stuff still just has this energy that his current videos are lacking. I really can't put my finger on it.

Thanks for confirming my instinct to avoid all of his recent streams was correct. How his canadian liberal behavior has progressed so much I cannot fathom. What do you get from that?

I stop watching channels that get over 100k subs. I'm not a hipster or anything, I just like it when they are just autistically gushing about their passion, especially when they do it in an entertaining or creative way. By 100k usually one of the following have happened:
  • They've used up all their original creative ideas.
  • They come to believe (either rightly or wrongly) that it is their interesting and entertaining persona or perspective people are there for.
  • 'I need to use my platform responsibly'
  • The passion project is now an income source
  • They get really into either a community or their own community, and their content gets injokey and insular.

Something about that silver play button.....
There's a YouTuber I like who specializes in reviewing adult games (hentai) and I dread the day he changes. He recently did a stream where he says that while he's thankful for each and every fan he gets, he's not your fucking friend and he doesn't want to be. He refuses to make a discord and hates the idea of the forced community every YouTuber has now. It was genuinely so refreshing to hear in a sea of "we're all friends here. " Type bullshit.

No, you aren't paranoid, as someone who's watched him since 4 digit subs his take on facism was unironically brain dead, just because he's sarcastic doesn't mean its impossible to know what he means.

The sarcasm in the video isn't direct toward people who think facism = wacism against minorities, its directed toward people who think nuance exists, because in his non sarcastic description below he says "Its totally not like race theory bullshit lead to downfall" implying that's why facism is bad and why it will never work, because minorities somehow the glue that holds society toogether.

He complitely ignores the advantages of bypassing bureaucracy which is 99% of the reason facism is strong.

What pisses me off is that he says he wants to cover facism fully in another deep dive video, he agrees that facism has many definitions and its hard to even pin down on what it is and isn't and its a complex subject, but then gives the most harebrained take you could possibly give. Under his retarded definition the DPRK is actually democracy because hey, no minorities to prosecute :D

Its really ironic considering the protagonist of his book is a nazi scientist iirc.

The guy is nuanced enough and pays enough attention to detail (in general) that I think if you had a chat with him and there's a reasonable chance he'd "go yeah that was probably dumb" but who knows at this point. He's done a good job staying out of politics in every single other video that while this is a red flag its not really a killshot for me at least.

Political sperging, every single time.

There was a life coach-like channel I watched that had really great advice and made a lot of great points and then out of the blue, they made a video about how brave trannies are and how their journey is so meaningful and we all need to learn from them. Nope.

Another one is Rachel Maksy. She makes pretty good content usually, but I was so close to unsubbing when she uploaded this video:
Literally saying "I was born in the wrong decade" is bad because racism.

I have no fucking idea why MagicMush allowed himself to be bullied into opening a Discord. He clearly knows better but he still put it as a subscriber goal.

Oh it's a man in the thickest British accent imaginable shitting on some random Floridian governor. Just what I asked for.
If the youtube OC in the channel icon or thumbnail looks like it's gonna explain something then you have a decent chance on at least one take that comes out of nowhere for social credit goodboi points

Unlike a lot of the responses this one isn't political at all (this example at least, he might well be a politisperg).

I used to watch a guy called Joseph Anderson, he does really long videogame essay videos which I used mostly as background noise while cooking or cleaning or some other boring chores.

He put out a video about the game Soma which is when I realised that he is dumb. Like really fucking dumb, possibly actually retarded. For those who don't know Soma is a walking simulator with a plot with some very basis philosophical concepts which apparently blew Joseph's mind and he thought it was some mega deep big thunk story. This guy kept harping on about plot elements which a normal person without brain damage would get immediately and wouldn't consider that deep or insightful.

Stopped watching after that video and honestly was probably the first time I felt a bit embarrassed for having watched any of his other content.

Oh cool an interesting clickbait video about that frame of a naked lady in "The Rescuers" movie

I was literally talking about this video with my sibling earlier today. Random algorithm recommend, looks mildly interesting, and I got... an annoying but strangely fascinating video really fast.

Me and my sibling joke about clicking on YouTube videos and being able to "smell the bread baking" (tldr, "breadtuber" aka blatant leftist YouTuber warning signs). While this video was at first mild, the smell of flour and yeast from the bakery came through fairly early when he said "girlboss" unironically. He was also acting very contradictory towards raunchy content in the video (seemed like he flipped-flopped on it being okay or not-okay depending if a supposedly scorned female animator did something or his "Hustler" magazine bit). He did randomly transition into honoring the supposed female employee who did the act "because the Academy didn't", which I promptly skipped over (along with his breadtube Florida governor jab).

He did go over the other "supposed" subliminal sexual controversies with Disney, which was good, but covered dozens of times elsewhere. I've heard probably 20+ versions of the "Walt Disney fired employees because they did a sexual", which I'm now convinced never happened. Overall the video was okay if you've never been exposed to these controversies before, but having been around the block + the pointless breadtube jabs, I gave the video a dislike and moved on.
