What would you want in an "American Dream Simulator"? - To experience what was stolen from you

Not confirming or denying my ability as a programmer or involvement in the industry.

Would you play a game where you can own a house and spend time mowing or doing house repairs or going fishing and so on?

Not really, having a nuclear family IRL would be better than larping as having one, and you might as well play some gay Stardew Valley clone for the "man vs. wild experience".

Now having a game where you need to attend your family and work a 9-5 job, while covertly cleaning your town from corruption and degeneracy with the help of your neighbours, will be pretty sick.

I'd like it to be more like a suburban satire. Maybe like an A.M. Homes novel where all these perfect people are actually quite fucked up below the surface.

I've always wanted a 'boring everyday time loop' game where someone's life is so formulaic and dull that they don't immediately realize they're stuck in a time loop. Once they do realize that's the case it of course goes like every other time loop where they progressively try more hedonistic/violent/extreme things because there's no consequences

Eventually, they stumble upon a thread that leads to some grand conspiracy, either technological or supernatural, and that's when the actual plot would start to progress. Kind of an open world Steins;Gate I guess.

Maybe have it be a group of people stuck in a simulation where the conspirators are trying to dial in exactly what the perfect American Dream is but for one of the people their memories don't get wiped for whatever reason, be it just their physiology, defective equipment, or someone on the outside trying to help them break out

That's basically The Stanley Parable

An alien subplot would be interesting.
The daily job could be just a cutscene where you're hammering metal things on an assembly line, and as the game progresses and you get promotions you move up to dealing with more complicated parts on an assembly line, then doing QC and then management. Those parts end up being important at the end game. Like becoming an evil robot or something.
As time progresses stuff happens like you buy a bigger house that needs to be repaired or you have to prepare for a family or whatever

I pictured more of an American version of LSD Dream Simulator when I read this question, and McDonalds playplace with public bathroom wall scribbles overlaying everything.

I'd like a realistic "farming sim" that is based on pioneers or Americana and not on faggoty cartoons. Farm your crops, drive your goofy farmer truck, play checkers on the porch of the drug store.

I feel like that's become the GTA FiveM mod for a lot of people who like role playing. I remember watching a guy streaming him playing FiveM and it was just him simulating loading up his U-Haul truck pretending to move to his new home, which I only assume is something he wishes he was doing in real life.

Either that or it's people roleplaying as cops and pretending to have authority they lack in real life.

2001 Duke Nukem Forever but completed, it comes with Prey as a pack-in game. I would also like a haunted PC to play it on.

The "American Dream" RPG simulator is just a constant shit test to see if the player is smart enough to be able to earn enough money to avoid the ravages of the Civil Rights act without getting arrested/sued.

Doesn't this just describe The Sims? Even in its first entry, the games were designed as a parody of the consumerist hellscape of "keeping up with the Johnsons" that was 1950's Americana, mixed in with Soap Opera drama. The whole gameplay loop is centered around working mundane jobs, owning a home, raising a family, and spending blood, sweat, and tears to raise enough capital to own that sweet mansion on the hill-top. Additionally, with expansion packs comes side-activities, such as the ability to go on vacation, go on a dinner date with a hot guy or gal, and going fishing.

It'd be like the Sims made for straight men. Less oodles of clothing options, more drivable lawn tractors and snowblowers
