No, I think this is different. They've been primarily making games since the 1980s. Over the last decade they've been working a lot harder to pimp out their IP, action figures, kids clothes, phone games, theme parks attractions, movies, bookbags, etc. I think it's been a shift that's gradually happening for a while. There's always been some stuff, (I had a Mario wallet when I was a kid, for example), but every store has wall to wall Mario and Pokémon shit in the kids sections now to the point where it would be genuinely shocking to go to Wal-Mart and not find at least a dozen different Nintendo t-shirts.Nintendo Is "Evolving" Into An Entertainment Company, According To Doug Bowser
