A lot of it being so popular is that it's an Indie game that is AAA content, but without the current year day one bugs and glitches. I don't think many people even know about the bear fucking honestly. I've seen quite a few videos on it where they would be outraged by it would have said something but missed it or they would have said something. If the game had been like most of the other releases of 2023 it people would be talking about it.

Honestly I was confused when I saw the first few videos with sensational titles were about the bear fucking, but no, people are mad at AAA publishers for being outclassed by an Indie dev, and want better.

That and someone being oppressed by racism when they played a Tiefling.

It's no coincidence either, as "we can't work because Covid" gave the industry a golden ticket to re-re-re-release all of their games and charge us full price for them.
I hard disagree here. The re-release movement in games is entirely fan-driven. As an example, World of Warcraft had "private servers" for as long as the game has existed. The most popular of them were "Blizz-like realms" meaning someone got a hacked up copy of the server codebase, set up a bootleg instance of the WOW server, and hacked the client to point to a bootleg server. They were the original game, maybe sometimes the first 1-2 expansions but otherwise just like the original game. Normal XP and drop rates. (some competing private servers upped the XP/drop rate to 200x or more) After 15 years of trying and failing to sue/DMCA private servers out of existence, Blizzard finally added "Classic" servers that are basically the same thing re-released.

City of Heroes is an MMO that was completely abandoned by the actual company that created it (NCSoft). It was re-released by fans as a private server, and it's still up to this day.

AAA games in recent memory have been bad enough in plot/storyline that fans are clamoring for games of the past with modern graphics.

With all this said, even shitty modern AAA games do more revenue than Hollywood + Sports Leagues combined, at least according to this source.

Fun snippet:
Some of the biggest and most spectacular concerts take place in Fortnite, for example, where Marshmello and Travis Scott have performed. Travis' concert has attracted 12 million viewers, almost double the audience of the 2020 MTV Music Awards.
As a win for the video games industry, 0 people were trampled to death at the Fortnite Travis Scott concert.

All that’s missing is them trying to promote a podcast. I also doubt that this’ll lead to any doors opening, especially since these guys seem averse to trying to think outside the box and will only adhere to traditional Hollywood systems.
It would all depend on the subject because podcasts about certain topics are a dime a dozen. To some extent, it also would depend on how well they could distinguish themselves from other podcasters in a genre. Nobody is going to listen to a new podcaster long-term if they don't ever some sort of new take or interpretation on material. Given their lack of creativity as writers, I'm not optimistic they can be more creative speaking into a microphone presenting their own content.

I guess solidarity seems quite Pyrrhic for those who now have to work part time in addition to picketing because they're desperate for money. I wonder what ever happened to the GFM intended as a strike fun of sorts that I believe Fran Drescher and other big names were promoting.

That pic of that neurotic chick holding up that equally neurotic sign actively pisses me off. This wholly unfounded belief creativity is somehow the child of mental illness or emotional problems or addictions or whatever the fuck is a lie promoted by hacks who like playing the role while never doing the work that makes real art. Fucking poseurs.

I'm rooting for the machine on this one. Let these pathetic prolefeed generators get a real job, one that actually benefits humanity. Pizza delivery guys, for example, benefit the hell out of humanity.. Everybody likes pizza.

Grifters live in their cars, oh my heart bleeds for overpaid trash class who haven't made a wise financial decision in their lives, last I heard homeless tent cities still have room for more.

Idiocy is causing strike to spontaneously combust, that's something to be proud of

Is that how we got a bunch of characters designed actor their actors/creators and accusations of being self inserts? I remember there being a tweet talking about this phenomenon featuring Mindy Kaling as Velma and the chick that made I Am Not Starfire, but I don’t know who made it, nor can I find it.

There are so many people who contribute nothing to society or the industry all also feeling the pain that Drew is feeling.
When this strike inevitably fails, it will be a prime opportunity for smart parents to point out the fate of the idiots who partook in it and say to their idealistic teenage airhead children "THIS is why you need a real job, and writing some glorified fanfiction isn't a real job."

A little OT but fan-driven is, to me, the same as the dead internet theory; loads of bots, lots of lies and none of the authenticity that they claim.

I don't doubt people buy remakes, but I do doubt that remakes are made instead of new games because fans are asking for remakes over new games. The most requested remakes are RDR1 and RDR2. ME remakes sounded good on paper but did nothing new; an easy money maker though. And so goes the story, when a studio needs a quick positive blip on their sales, they release another re-release.

Sony are cunts for doing this as every generation they will re-release and sometimes re-release a re-release, often at full price or with very little discount. "oh but teh graphics took time, people need paying" is shill cope.

Back on topic, it is no coincidence that those who have gone on strike are made up of a majority of gaming studios that are creatively bankrupt. At the very least, this gives R* another 12-18 months excuse to keep milking GTA Online (in itself a constant re-re-re-re-re-re-release. Spending little money on no content and acting like it is a new game).

The thing is, properly channeled depression makes for good art because depressive thoughts are introspective searches for meaning and attempts to overcome their fears.

The mental illness I'm seeing here is narcissism. Narcs never admit they could be the source of their problems, they always think they're entitled everyone's attention, so the art they make is shit because it's ultimately aggrandizing themselves. That's the meta behind the Mary Sue character and why they're shit characters; they are written to boost egos, not explore their inner selves.

You know what's funnier about this strike?

If 20 A-list actors or directors who claim to support this crap decided to donate 1% of their net worth and a couple spare rooms in their 10+ room mansions for the starving writers that they claim to love and support, they could ensure this strike goes on forever.

Bullshit, if you have real depression you’re in bed for weeks on end and can barely brush your teeth or feed yourself let alone paint a new Michelangelo or write the next War and Peace. Anything else is a larp.

Maybe if this stupid shit goes on for long enough companies will realize video games are meant to be played
This strike is the gift that keeps on giving. It's best thing thats happened to entertainment in years. Whatever the final result is, the consumer has already won.
a whole 13 years since his other one writing credit.
Unions are for coal miners paid in script, not nepotism-hire trust-funders.

Pure unadulterated cringe.

Let's list WGA's accomplishments.
Every major demand backfired ✔️
Normies woke up and told Hollywood pedophiles to fuck off after they fucked their labour day ✔️
Fail to garner sympathy from normies after Hollywood t can't fuel cocaine habit ✔️
Spread their shit to their others industries their soy breath hordes ✔️
Live like homeless whores ✔️
Prove that they're Tumblr incarnate ✔️
Accomplish fuck all ✔️
Picketing fucks will end up in tent cities ✔️
WGA too bougie, and pathetic for Antifa and BLM to defend ✔️

Diagnosis: these are not people, they're individual cancer cells leeching off healthy host.
Treatment: Heavy radiation therapy.

What I hope from this is that a lot of deadwood gets cut, with the rising interest rates, ESG is killed for now (thanks Putin!), so the enforced DEI shit will have to be cut from films from now on, despite the Hollywood establishment kicking and screaming about it.
Even Disney is on strike, the company is bleeding money as is, flop after flop and movies get delayed.

And that is a good thing, Disney peaked Golden animation and early Pixar era. Both companies are insufferable and box office numbers

If this strike Indeed starts Hollywood crash and AI uprising we are witnessing history.

Hey now, I'll have you know that Disney's Pixar's Elemental eventually made it's money back sorta. The Little Mermaid maybe broke even because of all the racists who refused to give a movie staring a fish eyed black girl their money. We don't talk about Strange World here.

Star Wars is losing money, Disney is losing on toy sales, advertising, Kaitlin's verse got shitcanned, Dial of Destiny killed Indy franchise. Marvel is in the shitter too.

Now that shit writers picketing till end of tim, these studios aren't "writing", delaying movies, video games, etc. Nothing is being made since WGAs demands will be made. Nothing is bringing money or new media.

Let this cancer spread and enjoy the decline.
