First womb transplant performed in the UK

Professor Richard Smith and Miss Isabel Quiroga. Professor Smith, who is also founder and chair of the charity Womb Transplant UK, is a consultant gynaecological surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and professor of practice at Imperial College London.

He said: "This is a first for the UK, following over 25 years of research, and is only possible thanks to the recipient's sister who came forward and was willing to donate.

"It is still very early days but, if all continues to go well, we hope the recipient will continue to progress, and be in a position to have a baby in the coming years. We are grateful to the charity Womb Transplant UK for funding the transplant and to our highly talented colleagues for their time and expertise over many years.

"Any further transplants will depend on the willingness of suitable donors and funding for the operations, which comes through Womb Transplant UK. However, we very much hope we will be able to help other women born without or with underdeveloped wombs in the near future."

Isabel Quiroga is an OUH consultant transplant and endocrine surgeon and clinical lead for organ retrieval at the Oxford Transplant Centre.

She said: "It was a privilege to carry out the UK's first womb transplant. The operations, while long and complex, went according to plan and I am delighted to see that the donor and recipient are recovering well.

"I look forward to the time when this procedure becomes more common and more women have the opportunity to have their own baby."

Jessica Porter, head of regulation at the Human Tissue Authority, said: "All organ donations from living people in the UK must be approved by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) before they can proceed. The HTA checks that consent is in place and there is no duress, coercion or reward."

Gotta say, I fully expected this to be about trannies, glad to see I was wrong.
That'll come. First it was women-only groups, then bathrooms, now it seems the intersectional apex will be women being parted out for the Jame Gumbs of the world to build their suits out of. "Would you knock me up? I'd knock me up. I'd knock me up hard."

That being said, I'm gonna call "doubt" on the recipient being able to successfully have a child.
Personally I'm horrified that we've reached a point where "Stick a baby there and see if it gets fucked up." is an acceptable testing strategy. See also breastfeeding trannies.

Yeah, I missed that on the first round but seriously what the fuck is with the nonchalant attitude of the doctors in charge of the procedure regarding future complications? I didn't know the British medical establishment was staffed by people taking notes from Unit 731.

I'm certain this abomination would only produce... absolutely nothing other than debilitating pain and sickness. Because I'm certain this freak will need anti-rejection medicine to even make the womb to be not rejected as everyone's body is unique, denoted by their HLA. The only time transplants fully work is if the HLA is perfect as in only an identical twin's organ will work. Anything close will end with the immune system attacking the organ and making it fail.

Even without that complication, there's no telling it will even work right in a body of a man. They are making a freak straight out of Hellraiser and they don't care.

Vid coincidentially, related.

Can someone plase start the biblical end times? I want off this ride, really...
Living in a giant cube of gold, seeing weird shit everywhere, mark of the beast... seems fun. Personally, I'd rather have a bunch of time travelers show up and cut down this timeline that isn't meant to exist.

On one hand, the fella who had the worlds first pig-heart transplant lived for decades, so this may not be too bad.

On the other hand, I can't see this ending well, or why you would risk your life for something so...unnecessary. The UK is literally unnecessary surgery land.

It’s been done before, Sweden first I think, and delivered a live baby.
The woman does have to take anti rejection drugs, and I do t know what that does to a foetus, and the transplant lasts only a few years at most, i think the first one got yeeted as soon as the baby was out.
I dont agree with it as a concept. It’s another step on the road to growing babies at will, which is a nightmare for child safety.
You can’t stick a womb in a man, any more than you you can graft gills on a dog and make it breathe underwater.

It never will be. You can't transplant a womb into a man anymore than you can transplant a car engine to a plane.

It cannot be overstated how much of the supporting structure men miss that makes it beyond impossible.

It is not an exaguration to say that will colonize alpha centauri sooner than a womb transplant will happen on a man.
