From personal experience I can tell you, it’s pay in advance for any treatment there, or the tourist hospitals will require the go ahead from your travel insurance. Given she’s a stroke waiting to happen, and tropical infections are commonplace, Gunt is primed for a medical emergency. Even with travel insurance, the most she’ll get for a serious incident is stabilisation and a trip home.

Once you hit home soil, the insurers obligation stops…and I mean it stops at the home airport. Been there done that with one of my kids on a Thailand holiday. Fortunately the group he travelled with insisted on proof of travel insurance being shown prior to travelling in Asia.

As a runner, I can attest that clothing can lead to chafing. On long distances, one can have Runner's nipples (men, never heard it on women). I use Nip Guard (yes, it is the name of the product), which protect the nipples against the rubbing of the shirt. Many women use BodyGlide, between the thighs or other areas where rubbing can lead to blisters (feet). I always carry BodyGlide if I know that I will be walking for long distances in hot and humid environment.

Are nip guards reusable? I just use Glide on them. I only get nip issues if it's hot or I am going for a longer run. Also need to put it in the butt crack which is kind of gross.

I think you might be right. I think she was trying to flex when she said the ER cost her a pretty penny, but wasn't prepared for the possibility of people asking her how much she spent. It's classic Chantal; over share something super gross, impulsively brag, then cite her need for privacy when pressed for specifics.

All of those things Black Coffee mentioned is archived and discussed here on the farms outside of this fat bubble. Last sighting of her seems to have been in Phuket where most of the top tourist attractions tend to be either very physical, beach, or they are night oriented. Physical things like canoeing, surfing, snorkelling the pristine beaches, which she won’t do. Then the big Buddha, but steps. The green elephant sanctuary, also walking, and the big attraction there is washing and showering with the elephants in skimpy swimsuits. I can’t imagine chins doing any of these things now with her boil.

Only if she went to a backstreet clinic. If she went to an actual ER, it was likely Bangkok Hospital Phuket, an international hospital for tourists. That place is bloody expensive. Sure they do cheap pre-booked elective surgeries as part of the lucrative travel tourism industry, but for emergencies they ensure travel insurance is in play, and charge accordingly .

My son got an infection on his ankle after swimming in Thailand, only three days from his trip ending. He ignored it until his last day. On arrival in Phuket, his tour guide took him to Bangkok International Hospital in Phuket. This was 10 years ago when everything was cheaper. For ER alone he had to come up with 10k BHAT (about AUS$440, US$280, CAD$385). When it was deemed he needed emergency surgery, the guarantee required by his travel insurer jumped to just over AUS$50k.
