That's because the poodle is a hunting dog. It is most happy when it's with its owner in the woods chasing a wounded deer. Poodles get the bad rap as "disobedient" because people think the breed was intended as an urban living show toy. But they are not.

Poodles as a breed are actually in the same class as German Short Haired Pointers. They are highly active hunting hounds. If you put it in a one bedroom apartment and don't take it to a field and let it run off leash it will go paychotically insane.

My dad has had Cane Corsos. They're a mastiff breed so they have mastiff temperament and are very protective of their family.

Here is a personal anecdote to get an idea for you.

My dad had a Cane Corso named Bear. Bear was a rescue and had been abused by a male owner who also had abused his wife. I came over to visit with my girlfriend, and me having my arm around her got Bear to come up and try and defend her from me... By bringing me his toys. Very much a "don't hurt her, focus on and hurt me instead" type of act.

Another time I came to visit my dad, and arrived at the house around midnight. Dad told me to walk in the front door because "Oh yeah Bear will recognize you."

He didn't (I had only met Bear a few times), and thought I was an intruder. He cornered me in the entry and began barking and growling, and any attempt at getting past him was met with a vicious snarl, as was any attempt at getting outside, but he didn't attempt to bite me.

My dad had to come and verify to Bear that I wasn't an intruder by giving me a hug... At which point Bear decided I was his best friend.

Mastiffs are a type of guard dog breed that were used to catch and corner poachers / intruders so they can be put on trial. As long as you don't raise them to be shit, their natural temperament is to corner an intruder so YOU can deal with it.

Agreed. Null's voice is comfy. The voice cracks and giggles and utter inability to pronounce words like 'cache' make the show more enjoyable. MATI would hit different if he had some gigachad larynx. We love our eternally pubescent boy king.

Agree. I would like a "Jershisms" thread. I was highlighting them on YT comments, but they along with the very useful timestamps are gone now, as the main channel and some of the archive channels were taken down.

OTOH, Labs are some of the most friendly doggos you could ever meet, though they're hyperactive af. You either need a big backyard or plenty of walks (often both) to keep those buggers happy, and they never quite grow out of the puppy stage no matter how much you train them. Imagine 70ish lbs of ADHD throwing itself at you as soon as you walk in the door after a long day at work.

Labradoodles are the best of both worlds, at least in my experience.

I can confirm this, always had dogs growing up then got my own, known many dogs very well. My mum got a Poodle/spaniel mix a year ago and it's easily the smartest of all those dogs, it's very noticeable.

I dunno but I can tell you for sure that the streams on the original MATi YT channel used to regularly hit around 50k views if they were left up for a week.

No. Pitbulls are aggressive by nature as descendants of dogs used in animal bloodsports while the Cane Corso is protective by nature as they were bred to be livestock guardians.

Not disobedient, just surly.

Well behaved dogs can be assholes. I agree that people leave dogs to lives of desperate idleness and that some of the cruelest shit you can do to a dog.
