Being a tomboy doesn’t equal “pick-me.” It’s primarily attitude based with the main goal of generalizing other women so you can stand out for male attention.

Being more trad is not “pick me”

Being quirky is not “pick me”

Enjoying feminine things is not “pick me”

The list goes on and on. It is entirely attitude based with the qualifier being that you are better than other women for traits you possess. Simply being different or odd isn’t “pick me” unless they use it to tear others down.

I do think it's worth pointing out the NLOG phase is an overreaction to being bullied by other girls and women, especially for GNC behavior. It's not a healthy reaction, but it is what it is.

Nowadays those girls just insist they aren't girls at all.

I was a bit of this as a teenager, but slowly grew out of it once I stopped trying to act certain ways for male attention. I can understand why younger women fall into the trap easily as the mixture of hormones, the early dating scene, and desire to attract your crush can produce it. For women that have it well into adulthood though, it just comes across as desperate and try-hard.

Yeah, for me it was a combination of watching boys/men shit on the mainstream idea of women and also genuinely being """"""gender nonconforming"""""". I don't think I'd ever have trooned out about it but it was like a gold mine to me for a few years to naturally be the "cool girl". After waking up from it I put a lot of effort into beating the impulse out of my psyche. "Pick-me's" make our lives worse, onlyfans whores make our lives worse, but I don't have zero empathy for these people. They are tragically lost

For me it was to lash out against women and girls who were bullying me, especially abusive family members. Having an NPD mom that shat on every single thing about me that didn't conform to her boomer Karen norms about what teen girls are supposed to be like didn't help at all.

I wonder how many of these girls have abusive moms, or otherwise poor relationships with their moms? Having a bad relationship with the primary role model of what it is to be a woman in your life is also a big factor for many girls, I'm sure.
