Before we begin, I’d like to thank @WelperHelper99, @BlancoMailo, @Falcos_Commisar, and @prolasped_cranium for their help on this thread. Their help in gathering and archiving information regarding LazerPig is greatly appreciated.
I. Overview
David “LazerPig” Steel is a Scottish self-proclaimed Reddit celebrity, war historian, ex-intelligence agency employee, and NAFO member. He is also a self-admitted alcoholic former dragqueen unable to stop injecting how extremely homosexual he is *cue yet another 5-minute rant about the last knob he slobbered*, possibly delusional, mentally unstable, and worst of all a Scotsman who still thinks Scotland will get its independence.
II. Background
Warning: everything we know about Lazerpig's early life is self-reported and given the questionable nature of his stories/claims/mental health, you should take everything with a bucket of salt. The OP will treat everything he said as TRUE and HONEST with a helping of skepticism here and there. It’s also worth noting that LP claimed to have been in an accident in 2018 causing brain damage, so take that as you will.
David Steel was born to parents he claimed to have hated him. The exact reason for this parental hatred isn’t exactly known but there are a few speculations. One of these was the fact that LP was a part of the emo subculture in the 2000s. From being a part of the subculture is where Pig claimed to find out he was gay. According to a Blogspot post from January 20th, 2013, about 8 years prior LP snuck out of his home after getting into a spat with his guidance counselor to attend a concert at a local club called Opium, now known as Legends.
According to Pig, the crowd was too much for him to handle. That’s when a guy by the name of Alex came to him. They chatted for a bit then walked back home while being heavily intoxicated and cold. When they got to Alex’s house, Alex pecked LP on the cheek which LP took this as a sign he was gay and spent the night at Alex’s, fucking the night away. Should probably mention not only was LP drunk but also 16 years old at the time while Alex’s age is never specified.
Around this time David’s father would die from unknown causes. He claims this led to his mother becoming a controlling monster, forcing him to flee from his home. His story on what he did next changes from time to time, with one blog post saying he was enlisted with the British Army at one point: (A)
While during the podcast clipped at the beginning of the thread he’d joined an unnamed intelligence agency after writing an “important thing”, (Most likely a paper of some sort) while another story on a DayZ forum post stated he was on welfare until he was 25: (A)
Either way, he would later become a chef working for various oriental restaurants before suffering multiple mental breakdowns, in between working at Burger King. This, he claims, would later start his path to becoming an internet celebrity. (see: lolcow)
Also to note is the fact that Pig had a Newgrounds account named Ricewynd created on January 4th, 2005. (A) The account’s name is somewhat poetic as it is presumably a reference to Rincewind, a wizard from the novel series Discworld by Terry Prachet whose defining trait is cowardice and incompetence. Quite fitting, I’d say. Another thing is the Newgrounds account shows his age as being much older than he is but it’s entirely possible that he just lied about his age to bypass the 18+ restrictions since other age mentions correspond to him being about 34 years old at the time of this writing.
III. Reddit
Being a self-proclaimed Reddit “celebrity”, it would make sense to start off with LP’s Reddit history. His account was created on June 30th, 2015 and has the same name as his NewGrounds and DayZ forum accounts. (Ricewynd) Despite him being a flaming, raging homosexual his first few posts were centered around r/Scotland because obviously and r/RPC, which is pretty much anti-SJW SCP. Regardless, he would occasionally mention his faggotry on various subreddits such as him claiming to be forced to use the women’s restroom due to heckling from his male employees. (A)
However as time moved on, his posts became more diverse. Including but not limited to his cooking skills, (which for a lolcow is impressive) rants about military, historical, or his time as a chef at various restaurants, giving new YouTubers advice, and vore. One of these is quite different than the other but we’ll return to that later.
Let’s take a look at how he handled criticism from a user who thoroughly criticized his video on the T34. (Archived Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5)
As you can see, he did not take this criticism lightly. This will be somewhat foreshadowing of his later drama.
As mentioned before, David is a voracious connoisseur of vore. So much that he commissioned artwork of his perversions. Truly stuff you’d want your fellow historians to see when they visit your reddit page.
IV. YouTube
As many of you know David is quite the YouTuber. Which is why this thread was created in the first place. Most of his videos are quite lengthy, usually going for about 20-30 minutes although many are much longer than that. Most of the videos he makes are military related, especially those that shit all over Russian and German designs due to his hate boner of both Wehraboos and Vatniks meanwhile deepthroating British tanks as if God himself created them. (Which is ironic considering his stance on Scottish independence) While he does claim to use sources, between the bullshit life stories, shitty attempts at humor, and drunken fervor, it’s hard to tell what’s legit and what’s bullshit.
The channel was created on May 25, 2009 and thanks to fellow Kiwis @jalopy and @Regu we have a few of David's early videos. These serve as a foreshadowing of what David would later produce on his channel, including his Reddit-tier comedy and grifting view points.
The best one out of them all has to be the one where David dresses up like a cross between a Middle Eastern man and Kayne West.

But most of you probably know of LP via the T14 Armata Drama. For those of you unaware, the T14 is the Russian Federation’s next-gen battle tank that is undergoing some troubles in regards to production. David being the NAFO (Ukrainian Dickriders Club) champion he is took the opportunity to shit on it in March of 2023. Most of the video consists of him taking the piss on the Russian government however while also giving misleading informations on various details of the T14.
A fellow tank HistoryTuber by the name of RedEffect saw the video and decided to make a response video to LP. The video was more coherent when compared to David’s video and is 10 minutes shorter, mostly because RedEffect got to the point rather than beat around the bush.
So did David learn from his mistakes and thank RedEffect for the opportunity to demonstrate integrity and a genuine interest in educating his audience? Of course not, that would be silly.
David made a response to the response that is filled with ad hominems galore with maybe him addressing one or two points about the actual argument. Not to mention he calls RedEffect a “Russian Propagandist” which is rich coming from David. He also admitted that he was delayed for about a month due to “being afraid” to even watch the video, showing how much of a thin-skinned faggot he is.
The icing on the cake has got to be the "Sources" David used for the video.
If this isn't a textbook example of "Trust me, bro" then I don't know what is.
As a result, RedEffect and another HistoryTuber called ConeOfArc made response videos calling out David for his underhanded tactics.
Meanwhile Nicholas Moran, (The_Chieftain) an accredited historian with over 20 years of service as a tank commander in the US Army who had refuted some points on David's Sherman video, gave his opinion in the manner of an exhausted dad telling all parties to stop and live and let live.
Refuting in question for those curious:
David didn’t take kindly to this advice and proceeded to express his disappointment at Nicholas.
After a few days, the comment would disappear with the main theory being David deleted the comment after many replies called him out for acting in a disrespectful manner. He claims he didn't do it but given what we know of his character we know he did. Truly the makings a professional historian with a keen interest in debating his fellow historians.
A few months later, he would be invited and help promote The Tank Museum in Bovington, England with two videos from the official Tank Museum channel and David's own in the process. And as expected would display his pseudo-intellectualism by not only getting certain aspects of various tanks wrong, such as the T-72 not being standardized (It was very much so, especially among the Warsaw Pact) and the M3 Lee having the same engine as an Austrailian Sentinel tank, (They don't) his choice of clothing for the video on The Tank Museum's channel was interesting.
I'm surprised he didn't get arrested for stolen valor with all those medals.
V. Twitter
Surprisingly, David doesn’t upload much to Twitter compared to his other platforms. Still doesn’t exclude him from making shitty takes alongside his drunken rants and constant faggotry. A perfect example would be him coping over the fact a Challenger 2, his most loved tank, was destroyed in Ukraine.
Meanwhile for a few months in late 2023, David would attempt and fail at getting mentioned by none other than fellow Scotsman Count Dankula. The reason behind this ass kissing isn't clear, some say he wants to do a collaboration with Mark, others just say he wants the attention from a larger (and arguably better) channel.
Regardless of the reason, David would stop trying to get Dankula's attention after Dankula had the AUDACITY to dare criticize the Scottish National Party for failing to fix Scotland's woes.
He also displays his absolute THRIST for femboys and some god awful fanart he reposts on his Twitter page. Professional historian right here, everybody.
