Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

There are three problems. Discoverability, availability, and updatability. Your solution only tackles availability. There would need to be a way to keep mods updated, as well as a means of discovering new mods.
This is true, That is something I can't really think of a solution for. While something like my dream modding site could exist on the clearnet for a while, eventually something would happen that would force the site to either break its own purpose or get chased off the clearnet constantly. You could have a TOR version of the site, and if we are using p2p this wouldn't matter much but i consider being sent to TOR to be a loss, since it removes a lot of the user base and modders from being able to access the site.
You could start up official and unofficial accounts/threads on places like Twitter and 4chan for use during service interruption, but a Twitter account could be easily be taken down one way or another and a 4chan thread would probably not be the most reliable. In all honesty i don't fully know how to deal with the issues of Discoverability and Updatability.
I would rather based mods simply be named banned mods so its more of a universal platform for this shit rather than just a compilation of TOTAL NIGGER REMOVER 9000 but its a small gripe.
In a way even a banned mods site would turn into "NIGGERDEATHMODS.biz" since most mods that get banned will fall into either that niche or be porn mods that do pretty degenerate shit.

No wonder they thought ai generation for 90% of their game would be a good idea, the 10% they did make by hand is shit.
Amusingly this reminds me of something Joseph Anderson mentioned in his Fallout 4 review. The notable thing about radiant quests isn't how much they're like actual quests. It's how much actual quests are like radiant quests.

I submitted the gmod rape swep that I managed to find a while ago to Basedmods, I recommend other kiwis submit banned or in danger of being banned mods they have saved.
I have an old copy of Mighty Dungeons for New Vegas in a backup drive. That author had many mods, but they were wiped during the Spiderman trans flag fiasco.

You have a thread in prospering grounds on him
Is it a Nexus mods/modding community thread, or just about that guy specifically? Because a general modding community thread might be order if this continues.

So they pulled a Far Cry?
Kinda. Not as blatant. I saw someone on twitter say they get the impression that the core of the game was made by the A team, and for some reason the C team came in to put on some finishing touches. I think a combination of that and fear of the player missing anything are combining for this effect. For example:
It's common knowledge, stated openly by NPCs and in the fucking loading screens, that humanity realized Earth had 50 years to live which kick started exploration. At one point you go to the Lunar facility where most of the technical work was done. There are museum plaques re explaining this. If you bring Sarah, she'll make a comment along the lines 'Based on the work they were doing, they must have known the end was coming'
That's too stupid to survive space levels of retardation. Enduring on a cute dumb girl you're going to make a house wife with no decision making responsibilities ditzy. Beth brings the writing down to lowest common denominator standards to the point it feels like a society of idiots being held together by a few competent people (The final message NASA sends to an astronaut crew before launch is 'hey guys, remember that your space suit sealing properly is important.') Add in the diversity brush stokes and yeah, you can head cannon it that the majority of problems are caused by culture of retardation.

I love how after every major story event or visual/environmental story telling event there is a dialogue option with an NPC where you ask for everything you just witnessed to be explained to you like a baby.

This refusal to allow retards and midwits to suffer failure is what is destroying gaming, and society itself to a good point (🗿 me)

That which is freely given without effort has no value. If you don't feel like you accomplished anything a task means nothing. I would say this is like trying to make games into movies, but that isn't really the same comparisson because in movies you have a understanding you are merely a consumer and what "effort" you put in isn't related to anything you do towards it. It is more like having a entire movie made just to have it be a black screen for a soundtrack: you are deliberatly throwing away the entire point of the medium.

The fun in games comes from playing them. Playing means some people will fail, and that is ok. I don't go around demanding FIFA change their control scheme so I can play or that COD make itself easier so I don't have to get good. The point was made that Emil wants to write books or movies and not games and he hates how the gamers keep playing his game "wrong", if you are writing a game and not account for player inputs you have failed in your job retard. Yes gamers are fucking morons, but so are most people. You need to deal with those limitations. Not only that, you need to understand that some people are fucking lost causes who will NOT "understand" your "story" and it comes to a point where you just should give up on them. Some children SHOULD be left behind at school.

This refusal to make interesting stories and need to constantly dumb down and explain shit, the pandering to lowest common denominator, desperate tweaking to make sure the baby with the controler never feels a need to think any harder than what is needed to press a single button and have a cool shiny on screen.

Bethesda dying not out of a spetacular failure, but out of a sad whimper of mediocrity.

Does anyone else feel like every npc in this game works for Google or another big, soulless, tech giant? Like they are all employed at Disney and it's 'star was dress up day' at work? They all feel bland, upperclass, with sensitivity training but devoid of any nuance or morals.

The biggest example of this was when I visited the red mile. I didn’t visit as a part of a quest, I just happened upon it. I didn’t know what to expect. I land, I hear all the crimson guard (raiders basically) telling you to go fuck yourself. I think, ‘wow, I finally found a nice planet.’ Once I step inside, a security guard is threatening to kill a patron who didn’t buy their drinks.

Seems fine so far. It’s a little weird the owner stopped the guard from using the patron’s brains to paint the walls but okay. I get in the club, hear there’s this gladiator arena being run. Perfect. I found the owner, talked to her. She’s running a fucking gladiator ring in case you forgot. Where most people fucking die horrifically, and I ask to get in on the action. She asks for my full consent and to sign a waiver. I think, surely this is some sort of space raider joke. This place is where you buy parts to smuggle goods. It’s shady asf.
So I answer, ‘The voices in my head are telling me I have to compete.’
Then this absolute corporate bug woman tells me ‘Oh, sorry I can’t let you run in good faith.’ GOOD FAITH IT’S A FUCKING GLADIATOR RING. ‘We also get people who sometimes try to force those who owe them money to run, and we stop that too.’

Da fuq?????? I think I had a seizure. Surely, I heard wrong. The fucking owner of the underworld bar which runs a gladiator ring and deals with stolen goods surely doesn’t care about consent forms. Maybe she has a retarded brother. So, I try again. I pick ‘I’m really drunk, lets goooooo’ as a dialog option.

AND THIS BITCH SAYS I CAN’T RUN. What in the actual fuckity fuck?

If you aren’t letting drug addicts run, slaves run, crazy people run. Then who the fuck is allowed to do this? Who the fuck would???

I can give so many more examples of this, but everyone in this game feels overly processed and bland asf. I remember Fallout 3 had a slaver town, you could literally force, drug, and trick people into becoming a slave. You’d literally strap bomb catboi discord collars on them and send them to the slave town. Just like discord, I think you could enslave an actual town of children too. That was base game, not a mod. My gosh, How far AAA video games have fallen.

I just now realized there are a bunch of random characters you can talk to that basically have no importance. They're all just like diplomats and shit that will just be like "lol I like living in New Atlantis!"

Are these the characters that NPC's of Skyrim mod author was put in charge of? Cause they're so fucking pointless I keep thinking I'm going to get a quest or something and they're just like "Derp, I work and like place."

My enjoyment of Starfield is a lot better when I treat it like real life and ignore every fucking person I walk by apparently.

Came back off holiday yesterday so managed to get a few hours in. I was bored to tears by the time I made it to the first real big proper planet and closed it down. Any time I’ve thought of going back to it I think of the menus and come over all sleepy, don’t think I’ll ever touch it again. Compared to the sheer sense of wonder and exploration ahead of the elder scrolls and fallout games they’ve done this is just really bland and boring. I don’t care what’s on other planets, I have no interest in the combat and I cannot face trying to work out which abilities to upgrade whilst navigating that fucking convoluted mess of a menu. 3/10, just awful.

I'd hate to play this game if you're actually in aerospace in anyway. I'm not, never even been to college, but I've been lucky enough to work with some. I hope the computers are doing some really heavy lifting in this future, because most NPCs talk like fake email job people who follow Michou Kaku and Black Science Man.

Really getting the 'two teams' vibe. It's pretty clear in the UC quests. Mom said it's my turn on the computer so stand by for mil-sperging.

There's some good stuff on the fringes. Like talking your way into the bar of a former UCMC xenoweapons unit that got thrown under the bus in the peace talks for following orders. There's a guy running a bar out at the edges of UC space where the bartender calls bullshit on the official narrative of a war criminal. There's another interesting angle I can't comment on because I haven't seen if it goes anywhere. The UC military has clear divides between branches. But those are fringe things.

Buut then you get to SysDef quest line. It's pretty good because it's just giving you the ability to play the Crimson Fleet quest and seems hard to miss for a UC play through. You're tasked by a Commander on a huge bad ass ship to infiltrate the CF and finally bring them down. So far so good. But his XO is a LT. A bit low, but fine. It's gonna bug me but I don't the average player notices. Then you realize this massive warship, with the most important mission in SysDef's purview, is staffed entirely by Cadets. C'mon. Just look up the word 'cadet'. Most scifi fans would have absorbed by osmosis cadets are still in training and haven't fully joined and gotten a rank yet. So this really dire mission is being ran by two officers and naval academy students as a summer project?

This isn't even hard. Just change some generic NPC names. It's not going to throw off the normies, because it doesn't matter. It's just a bit of set dressing for immersion. 90 iq alcoholic teenagers can figure out rank structure in a week, your players can pick up on it and get a feel that it's an actual military. Fuck, put a poster at the recruiting office. Done. Same with the side quest that's just a chance to hang out with the Martian Marines from The Expanse. Give them a bit of personality ffs. I like the part where the Marines say they helped the Militia out of camaraderie for their fellow grunts, but other than that they're completely bland.

Todd, I know you're reading this. You are in Bethesda, MD. You are with in an hour of Annapolis, the Pentagon, Quantico. Make a call. Hire someone to give the script a once over and add some small bits of life to it. You don't need a complete overhaul, just some small corrections and flavor lines to add immersion. You want your space marines to be unique? THE organization that put connotations of the word 'Marine' in the American psyche is head quartered a train ride away. Steal from them, call the medics Corpsmen, have them correct the Militia for calling them soldiers, have them shit talk everyone else constantly. Go watch fucking Aliens, Cameron just asked his brother what the USMC was like and that worked out great.

Rate me autistic or whatever but fuck, simple things like that are a thousand times more immersive than modelling bitten sandwiches and regular sandwiches so that fat useless broad can do an interview about how she collected 20k sandwiches on the USS Sandwich Stealer or 100 varieties of food chunk.

Add the fact that you pick up a bunch of quests just from eavesdropping as you walk past people and you don't really need to interact with a single crowd NPC. That said, you can usually tell the difference between a proc gen filler NPC with no lines vs a quest relevant NPC based on how ugly they are.

These ones I'm talking about look better than the procedural filler NPC's. They even have names. They just have absolutely fuck all to say.

I've seen a few of them like that, with nothing to say, but later on they ended up being a finish point for a radiant quest. Which just added the option to hand over an item to finish the quest.

I've noticed that all the people discussing Starfield sound like one of those woke 'struggle session' things where you have to preface everything by admitting the game is a masterpiece or something. I checked the Starfield Reddit while looking for this post:
Which has since been buried by this mess of struggle session sounding people listing all the issues they have with the game prefaced with their undying love of Bethesda and Starfield.

It's bad in the comments, but I can't be bothered to go digging through them, its all just the same.

Yeah no that's emil, he's barely good at this retared CoD-lite plot. And het lucked out on specifically building the UC plotline on what he always builds milsperg plotlines to be, just look at BoS plot in FO3.
If you want to see how bad his sperging is, go do the ranger questline. You get to kill DRUMPF if you do btw.

I've had a few lapses in lucidity lately where I've considered actually buying this game. Then I start reading more posts about it and think about it and holy shit I don't even think I'll pirate it.

I could deal with the wokeshit if it was a good enough game otherwise to tune out the retarded ESG dialogue and fuck around seamlessly in space, exploring the boundless cosmos and having a lot to do.
I could deal with the game being buggy and sometimes lacking in features I wanted like real space exploration or I could even deal with the untextured planets in space, if the game had at least decent dialogue writing and engagement.

I won't deal with the combination of both this game seems to offer. It sounds like the final game was written by retards who came in mid project and filtered everything through a Hindu to English translator and ESG Bible at the same time. That's something mods won't really be able to fix unless you just ignore everything about the games story and rely on created content and if the game was functioning otherwise. Good modded content is still a long time off and the rest of the game seems lacking compared to other space game offerings.
