Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

There's also something about the fit of the shirt that set off my troon alarm.

Edit- although it could just be the weird "influencer" lighting.

It’s a bit big on him. If anything, that implies he either lost weight and is now doing better or just has the wrong shirt size. I’ll agree on the lighting.

I do want to clarify that Charles is not married and has no children.
Wikipedia says he’s married and links to a YouTube video that I don’t want to watch all of to prove it. Assuming you’ve watched the video and know otherwise, i’ll take your word for it.

I know about the lack of children but I didn’t bring that up because i’m still grieving the MrBeast compatriot whose name I memoryholed.

Nintendo Is "Evolving" Into An Entertainment Company, According To Doug Bowser

...haven't they always been an entertainment company? They got their start with playing cards.
Technically sure, but I think there's a nuanced difference there, he is talking about it in a modern sense. Focusing on "entertainment time" sounds a lot like "games as a service" shit and such. Like dragging out MK8 for a decade instead of making new games.

It sounds bad honestly, but I'd have to see him elaborate.

Why am I starting to feel like we will be introduced to Charlene Martinet any day now?
I was unfortunately thinking the same thing just now... A quick search shows Wikipedia says he has a "partner". Please don't let Mario be a faggot...

I think he just means branching out to entertainment mediums beyond video games. Like they’ve always had toys (hell, that’s more or less how they started out) but for the last few years in particular, they’ve had the Lego partnership, Super Nintendo World, the movie, and anything else I’m forgetting.

So if Nintendo fired Charles for trooning out, would that be a net positive or negative?
This entire conversation reminds me of that one Murdoch Murdoch video with Miyamoto.

That might be why they gave him the non-VA job. Can't use him as Mario if he changes his voice, wouldn't want him voicing female characters either because duh, and don't want to get sued for "firing" him.

God, at first I thought you all were joking...

I’m joking, at least. But the evidence is there if you squint hard enough and turn your head at just the right angle…

What he means is that Nintendo wants to become a media conglomerate
I mean, even back then, they were. I remember owning a Nintendo TV as a kid. Not to mention the fuck-ton of merchandising from McDonalds toys to fucking breakfast cereals.

Everyone who is anyone knows Nintendo because at this point they are as well-branded as Disney (old WALT Disney, not new WOKE Disney). i don't see how they can be even more of a media conglomerate than they already are.

You owned a Sharp TV with an NES built in, there is a difference.

That's not being a media conglomerate. That's being good at making marketing deals. Compare Nintendo to Disney. Disney doesn't make just sell their stuff through Walmart. They run their own line of stores. They produce their own toys. They have their own book publishers, music publisher, record companies, concert production group, theatrical production group, animation studios, movie studios, tv studios, radio stations, cruise lines, hotels, timeshares and vacation resorts, their own private island, film distribution, home entertainment distribution, tv distribution, etc. That is what it means to be a media conglomerate.

Will be cool if the rumors are true here. Switch is almost 7 years old now so it definitely would line up with most console life spans and the hardware is just super old at this point. I could imagine them showing it off in December and launching it May next year. Still it's been a pretty cool console all things considered even with all Nintendo's bs. Hard to believe it's been 7 years

Playism is releasing a Switch-exclusive indie game (developed by NIGORO) about bitch-slapping in the 19th century.
You slap by holding the Joy-Con vertically and swinging it, or by swiping the touchscreen, and you have to alternate each turn between going on the offense or evading your opponent. Besides the story mode with different scenarios & characters, there is also a two-player mode.

No confirmed date yet for outside of Japan however.

I'm not holding my breath. I bet they hold out until 2025.

Wasn’t that a literal flash game way back when? I remember the demo had that one with the blue dress and the slap combo.

I thought you were kidding at first

but then you went on to describe the controls

what is the appeal of this? is it like some kind of weird punch-out clone? am I just missing something? :\

Oops you're right, I should have done my research better.
It was also showcased during the TGS 2022 at the Playism booth, and another time during the japanese Nintendo's Indie World direct in April.

It looks stupidly fun, the setting is fresh and I enjoy trying out different kind of games to diversify my game backlog.
Price is also fairly cheap at 1,650 yen (with 10% off until October 2nd).

Imo the switch 2 will at best have the Xavier series chips or some custom one based off of the Xavier.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tegra information sourced from here.

if you look at the red square this is what I expect to be in the switch 2 as it's Nvidia's ARM chips that have been out for about 2-3 years now. If we're going by Nintendo's philosophy of always selling their product for a profit and using old hardware more effectively.

Tegra X1 specs for comparison below. Notice how the Tegra x1 was already 2 years old when the switch launched.

If we wanted steam deck tier performance they'd have to use the Orin series which just launched late 2022/early 2023. Nintendo is not going to use fancy Orin chips due to how new they are.

This is all assuming the switch 2 launches sometime 2024 and continues to be portable which it should because that's the whole selling point for Nintendo consoles outside of their first parties.

The Xavier sounds right... it's already significantly more powerful then the X1.
The Switch2 is not likely to have a major resolution boost so the graphics may be similar, but a more powerful chip would allow for a more intelligent world - such as more dynamic enemies, more complicated TOTK contraptions, more games from other systems. possibly destructible terrain.

I honestly expect Nintendo to spin off the contraption creator from TOTK to a new game (that may not be Zelda themed) where you could create extremely complicated contraptions. Though i would play a Legend of Zelda: Industrial Rerevolution.

Looking at the reviews for it, I wonder if it will have Xbox Kinect like sensors?
