What Video caused you to stop watching a Youtuber?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Unlike a lot of the responses this one isn't political at all (this example at least, he might well be a politisperg).

I used to watch a guy called Joseph Anderson, he does really long videogame essay videos which I used mostly as background noise while cooking or cleaning or some other boring chores.

He put out a video about the game Soma which is when I realised that he is dumb. Like really fucking dumb, possibly actually retarded. For those who don't know Soma is a walking simulator with a plot with some very basis philosophical concepts which apparently blew Joseph's mind and he thought it was some mega deep big thunk story. This guy kept harping on about plot elements which a normal person without brain damage would get immediately and wouldn't consider that deep or insightful.

Stopped watching after that video and honestly was probably the first time I felt a bit embarrassed for having watched any of his other content.
I "watched" him the same way as you, as boring background noise content, but the video that caused me to drop him was this clip from his Silent Hill 2 stream:
How do you get filtered so hard by Silent Hill 2 of all things. Literal basic shit the game spells out for the player he somehow misses.

There's a YouTuber I like who specializes in reviewing adult games (hentai) and I dread the day he changes. He recently did a stream where he says that while he's thankful for each and every fan he gets, he's not your fucking friend and he doesn't want to be. He refuses to make a discord and hates the idea of the forced community every YouTuber has now. It was genuinely so refreshing to hear in a sea of "we're all friends here. " Type bullshit.
You're really gonna say all of that and not even tell us the name of the fucking channel?

I was literally talking about this video with my sibling earlier today. Random algorithm recommend, looks mildly interesting, and I got... an annoying but strangely fascinating video really fast.

Me and my sibling joke about clicking on YouTube videos and being able to "smell the bread baking" (tldr, "breadtuber" aka blatant leftist YouTuber warning signs). While this video was at first mild, the smell of flour and yeast from the bakery came through fairly early when he said "girlboss" unironically. He was also acting very contradictory towards raunchy content in the video (seemed like he flipped-flopped on it being okay or not-okay depending if a supposedly scorned female animator did something or his "Hustler" magazine bit). He did randomly transition into honoring the supposed female employee who did the act "because the Academy didn't", which I promptly skipped over (along with his breadtube Florida governor jab).

He did go over the other "supposed" subliminal sexual controversies with Disney, which was good, but covered dozens of times elsewhere. I've heard probably 20+ versions of the "Walt Disney fired employees because they did a sexual", which I'm now convinced never happened. Overall the video was okay if you've never been exposed to these controversies before, but having been around the block + the pointless breadtube jabs, I gave the video a dislike and moved on.
it's such a weird thing in a video about putting sex in children's movies he feels the need to go "desantis bad". the groomer shit broke lefty brains, because while it's conservative culture war psychosis when applied to a regular person it's completely accurate to terminally online leftoids

I mentioned Drew Gooden earlier, maybe almost a year ago, when he was still wearing a mask like a faggot in 2022 doing videos in Florida. But I just want to be on record before it happens saying he's going to troon out or say he's nonbinary very soon, given the way he's put on weight and dyed his hair and wearing less ironic, more gay clothing.
Omg, THAT'S what Drew looks like? He's unrecognizable.

In that same vein, Cody Ko. It wasn't so much one video as it was a continuous succession of videos. First off, I realized that Cody is really fucking boring on his own. His wife thing is annoying and cringe.

He was most bearable when it was him and Noel Miller because Noel is pretty funny on his own but he is nowhere to be found anymore and I can't be assed to watch any more of it.

I don't know who Joseph Anderson is, but anyone who puts "critique" instead of review in their videos is an automatic dismissal and a don't recommend again on my front page.

I like SOMA, didn't love it, but I liked it because I'm generally a huge fan of existential horror, but it hugely suffered from problems where the main character contrived to be stupid for plot convenience. The ending was also mind blowingly stupid because they tried to pass something we've seen at least six fucking times as a massive twist and I saw it coming from a mile away and it kind of took away from the main plot because I knew doing what we were doing was going to lead to nothing.

youtube OC in the channel icon or thumbnail looks like it's gonna explain something
If the youtuber has a cartoon caricature of themselves/furfag/anything really in the thumbnail at all that isn't directly related to the topic. I've begun completely avoiding anyone that does this because you're can be a few minutes in and the politisperging jumps out.

I really hope he doesn't troon out, I really like his content.
It's funny because if you didn't bring it up, I wouldn't have theorized that. Him putting on some weight is a good thing, I feel like. I remember very early on I was mildly unsettled by how anorexic he looks. I'm glad he isn't that thin anymore.
But is it in character for him to troon out? ...I don't know.
Speaking of trooning out...one of the guys in Razzle, Alan, seems really close to, or is probably already "nonbinary." Every other main member has "he/him" pronouns in his profile, except for him. Also, he started wearing faggy makeup as of the past few videos. (What is ironic is that he used to have a head full of hair as a kid and if he still had said hair he'd probably pass as "whatever gender" a little easier.) Also, it seems like he really likes to crossdress and play women's roles in their drunk reads.
If Alan troons out, I'm unsubbing. We should all know by now that once you troon out, all of your humor goes out the window and your only personality trait is "I'M TRANS AND GAY."

Reactions: Da Capo and Toolbox
like i said, georg is starting to grate on me with how it's all about how chuds are this big grift that is infiltrating the mainstream as if this is a uniquely right-leaning thing. i have a similar problem with guys like ryan chapman who talk about robin deangelo and the like as a problem unique to lefty academia. it makes you look partisan as fuck and in rockall's case overcompensating for being an anti-sjw years ago and having a young girlfriend (or maybe it's his sister). the guy seems to be more and more generous to corporate shit like barbie or amazon's lotr because the chuds dont like it, when he used to shit on these movies for being high concept toy commercials. is making a parody of ben shapiro's barbie review more important than a video rail workers not getting sick pay, the cutting of medicaid or handouts to banks and energy companies while taxes are made higher for regular people, or to throw a bone to the right the country funding ukrainian nazis or the president's son being paid to smoke crack?

I guess I am annoyed more that like not the idea of covering it, but there's always a hypocrisy in partisans. where someone on the right wont want prager covered at all purely because theyre not as big as others, or leftoids will downplay a controversy as "a culture war topic" to say it should NEVER be covered, while insisting covering stuff like MLMs or giving a basketballer to Russia in exchange for a war criminal is actually awesome. there's never a balance. it's a false sense of justice, when really it's just another way of demonizing the other end. like even if you think these people are worth demonizing, why show you have zero principles for attacking grifters on your own side purely because you secretely like those ones or what they represent better? just be honest that rightoids/leftoids offend you more, but attack yourself at least some of the time iyam

i just remembered eddache from the previous page also did other shitty videos like defending the live action disney remakes because aladdin is using colonial stereotypes by having sexy women and your hand being cut off for stealing an apple. forgetting those are things that are there to convey the idea of opulence and the other is a real medieval-era punishment that was also done in europe

This was an instant unsub. Not that I really cared about Just2Good all that much anyways. Was fun to see the new Legos here and there. I originally found him when he first appeared as a guest on Pan Pizza's Pizza Party Podcast all those years ago. Also followed him on Letterboxd. Unfollowed him there as well as a troon's opinion just doesn't matter.

No specific video in mind, but Poofesure's schtick got grating after a while. Being angry and bad, even at games that are actual bullshit, loses its charm rather fast. I'm also rather cautious about Todd in the Shadows since he's getting more open with his trend-chasing and boilerplate online leftism. It's to the extent that I haven't bothered to watch his video on Popular Conservative Song #44, since I already know everything he's going to say about it.

Speaking more generally, YouTube likes to recommend me channels that I don't want to watch. Mostly urbanists these days, but I've also gotten more typical "breadtubers" and video game theories/takes that I just know are going to be retarded from the thumbnail alone.

Sometimes I "start" watching a YouTuber and stop watching a YouTuber in the same video. Oh what's that, a cool seemingly well-made video essay that makes for good background noise and seems to cover an interesting enough topic? Sure would be unfortunate if there was sudden, unwarranted political sperging and feeling the need to inform the audience of right and wrong through the lens of two-party political systems.

>a clearly autistic LEGO YouTuber troons out

So, occasionally I watch the odd thing by Simon Whistler. I have a thing for niche documentaries and he crops up on my feed fairly regularly. I am not a fan- if he gets any faker than he already is he'll be the first human to organically evolve into CGI- but since he is so prolific there are frequently crossovers to my various interests.

Well, yesterday I clicked on a twenty minute video that looked interesting (one of those 'Top Five Most sorts of things) and at the halfway mark I turned it off in disgust because he still hadn't got to what he was supposed to be counting off. It was just waffle and was so transparently designed to keep people watching for as long as possible to rake in that sweet ad revenue... on top of the 'this video is sponsored by' shit too. I don't begrudge anyone trying to earn a living but for fuck's sake, please have some sliver of respect for my time.

I'm now blocking all the channels that plastic android shows up in. There's dozens of the fuckers... dozens. There are so many better creators using the documentary format on yt, I do not understand why Whister has such a massive presence.

G-man lives. his starfield review was shilling too the max.
He had a PS1 video that was in my recommended once. I like to check the Twitter and the channel descriptions of every new channel I come across so I don't find myself wasting time on someone who's too much of a sperg..

G-mans Twitter wasn't that bad but his channel description sure rubbed me the wrong way. Came across as angry and autistic.

"IF YOU SAY SOMETHING I DON'T LIKE IN NY COMMENTS, I'LL BLOCK YOU"

Jeez okay, fuck you too then.

i used to watch mauler, about 6 years ago. it was his saturday livestreams. it was good background noise. but it was one of these streams, where mauler said that making film critic reviews was more difficult than making actual films.

i think this was a time after he got a lot of subs from this star wars videos. he was getting high on his own farts from this and all the anti-sjw fandom menace back then. i kind of understand why he was getting cock, at the time. but this statement was so stupid that i had to shut off the video and never listen to him again. how can you take anyone seriously who says this? i would post the clip but i am too lazy to find it and mauler is not worth the effort to spending hours doing so.

Respect.
I wouldn't want to be friends with people who were 'engaging in the porn community' either, and certainly wouldn't want to host a space for them to meet.
That's a checklist to speedrun a rape allegation with an optional underage discord kittens bonus objective.
