Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

This game needs a graphical overhaul to remove piss filter and make it non monochrome.
This game needs better NPCs. Even if you keep them black, just make them not ugly and not fat and fix their Autism Stares.
This game needs a totally redone Inventory UI and a map.

With those above fixes it would be an okey game. Not a stellar one, but a totally servicable 7-8.
Either Bethesda will (rainbows here) will have to patch a lot, which I doubt, or modders have their job cut out for them.

I wouldn't say FO3 was "basically ignored", it had a pretty decent modding scene going but the release of FNV and the fact it was such a better game story-wise with needed gameplay enhancements (gun modding for example) meant once it released most modders moved over. Though the rest of it is pretty much 100% on point.

Fallout 4 kneecapped modders hard with the leaning on voiced protag pretty much killing entry level quest modding, not to mention the complete massacre of a dialog system making anything more than 3 dialog options a complete chore to put in even if you get away from the voice elephant in the room.
New Vegas is actually having a major renaissance in modding right now. kNVSE completely tore out the pre-existing animation structure in favor of a far more modern and flexible one and now there's even a mod that adds FO4 style workbench weapon modding. Only thing you could possibly want in FO4 now is settlements and armor modding, but I don't see why the weapons framework couldn't be expanded to armors somehow and the settlements are frankly just completely unneeded in FNV since there's an actual world and towns for you to make use of instead of empty barren patches.

There's like three perks for unarmed combat and no way to unequip weapons, you need to go into the fucking menu to do it. This game was made by 20 different teams and stitched together.
unarmed is workable as a stunlock -> power spam while stacking DoTs from external sources. Since EM stuns aren't broken from DoTs
Now if only we had said external sources. Like say, A fucking gun?

Or if casting spells werent so fucking slow and buggy. Like did they use Oblivion engine for spells instead or some stupid shit because I could swear the animation frames look familiar.

  • STARBORN!?! Bethesda, you lazy motherfuckers.
Unironically my favorite part of the otherwise shit story with shit npcs and shit dialogue. Chosen one? Nah, you're just one of probably thousands of interstellar rock huffing crackheads.

The old man Hunter was a lot cooler than the emissary. Gatekeeping immortality? Fuck right off Sam.

I was so excited for this, but I've only clocked 5 hrs since release, because you're correct, it's Fallout 4 in space. However, that suits me down to the ground, as all I tend to do is ignore the story and just collect and hoard shit that I'll never use. But it also means that the excitement of 'new game' isn't present, and I'll just play it as and when I can be arsed.

I see a lot of people saying to stop blaming the engine, and that Bethesda upgraded it and that 'gamers dont know how engines work', but all of this, the lack of procedural generation, the world size limits, the loading cutscenes, the awful space cells, the cell loading entirely, its all because the engine literally cannot do any of these things, so Bethesda cheats and half asses everything. The entire game was held back by the engine, so much of what they wanted to do is just impossible, but they will never actually change anything because they are complacent.
A sequel to this, in UE - with actual seamless planets and no loading screens, and Metahuman for the characters - would be kick-ass.

I'm seeing reports that crowd density doesn't actually lower the density, but just causes less variation in NPC's to pop up.

Could this be a reason for so many copy/paste niggers appearing?

Also people have started making maps of the cities, and it's clear as day the reason Bethesda didn't include them in the game is because it showcases just how small the cities actually are.

Are there any followers for evil or even morally grey characters?

Everyone I've recruited so far cries and shits their pants if a civilian or sometimes even a quest NPC dies.

I miss Cait and Strong. This fucking sucks, Bethesda are the ESG hard.

The fan is the only one I think? Vasco is kind of indifferent I guess.

@Sniperwoof

I've read that there is a hireable crewmate that is with the Crimson Fleet. So maybe her?

Edit: Guide says her name is Jassamine Griffin located at Last Nova, The Key in the Kryx System. Funny enough, the one picture I see of her makes her look like The Outer Worlds female template.

Everyone in Constellation, and thus anyone with a "story" or with a romance option, are completely goody two shoes though.

@CyrusHowler since you've been simping on the game so much before its release, what are your thoughts on it now that the game has been released? I bet you like it, don't you.

Three questions: how big is the main city relative to the Imperial City, how many cities are there, and of those, how many are Bravils?

I think Andreja, that's about it though. Also the crew members who apparently don't react to events like how the Constellation companions do.

Rate me autistic or whatever but fuck, simple things like that are a thousand times more immersive than modelling bitten sandwiches and regular sandwiches so that fat useless broad can do an interview about how she collected 20k sandwiches on the USS Sandwich Stealer or 100 varieties of food chunk.
One of the trends I'm hating right now in gaming (and other media) is this stupid arms race to try and be "viral". Almost every hack indie game has a trailer where they show a dog so they get a spot on the "can you pet the dog" twitter account, or some kind of "lol so random!" moment.

This trend reminds me of how every other corporate mascot in the 90s was into extreme sports to pander to kids, while also wearing lots of padding to set a good example.

It feels completely artificial and insincere.

Compare that to Perfect Dark where they hid a piece of cheese in every level for shits and giggles, or EDF where the soldiers will sing if you choose the right chat messages. Those are charming and fun because it feels like it was added by someone that cared about what they were doing and put that in just to give a chuckle either to themselves or the hardcore fans.
