Another example of a "Pick Me" I've noticed is women who talk very openly about sex and sexual acts around men. I've come across Pick Me's on male dominated forums talking about sex, sex toys and anal beads to a bunch of gross men in order to get their attention. As any woman knows there are some things that women can't talk about openly with men, such as sex, as it gives men the wrong idea. These girls knew that but either are whores or wanted to prove that they were "cool and one of the bros".

I’m gonna stick my oar in to recommend Female Chauvinist Pigs by Ariel Levy again. It’s like a societal cross-section of different kinds of pickme girls. Here’s some types of pick me girls I learned about in that book:

There’s the porn enjoyer. She’s not like those other girls because she’s down with porn! You can take her to the strip club and she’ll ogle the women there just like the moids do.

There’s the one of the guys girl. She’s not like other girls because she hates makeup and has a poster of Solid Snake in her bedroom. She plays video games but she won’t mind if you spam your the chat with sexist slurs. She might even join in. Her wardrobe is similar to that of a male weeaboo and she loves to dunk on girls who wear makeup.

There’s the executive pickme. This lady had to climb over 20 other women to get where she is in life and she wants you to know she’s not weak, like other women. She dresses in conservative skirts and high heel shoes. She’s deferent to males and always looking over her shoulder for the competition.

There’s the tomboy pick me. She has some unusual hobby like biathlon or duck hunting or rodeo, and hides her hair under a ballcap most of the time. She wishes she was a guy so she could get respect and freedom to do what she wants. She will roast women whom she perceives as too emotional and needy, because she’s not like them. In order to fit in with her male friends she adopts all their gross habits.

And then finally there’s the pooner pickme. This is a girl who hates being treated as a sexual object, so she became a sexual predator. By taking hormones and taking on the outward appearance of a man, she can now sexualize women the way men do, and avoid being sexualized by her male friends. Because she’s not like other girls, she’s a boy with a pussy.

The unifying trait here is that pickme girls will always try to throw another woman under the bus to get ahead. They objectify other women and themselves for moid approval. She’ll let moids take advantage of her for attention, put up with their shitty behavior, and even try to assimilate their mannerisms in order to be perceived as not like the other girls by her male friends.

I already seconded this great book in the MH thread, but I'm doing it here too. I absolutely recommend Women here checking it out, even if you aren't one of those ew icky feminists. Stan gives a good summary, and the books itself is an easy read while simultaneously being packed with information. I'm kind of surprised Ariel Levy hasn't published more books, honestly.

But you are competing with other women. And deep down you know this obviously, so perhaps a better question would be, why do you tell yourself it ain't so? Is it fear of failure?

Women don’t actually have to compete with each other for men. Even back in the bad old college days, getting male attention was as simple as grabbing a drink in town or responding to CL men-seeking-women ads.

So you are lying to yourself (and us here) that you are not a pick-me, when in fact this exact partnership strategy did work out for you.

It’s a small thing, but back during gamergate June made this stupid video where she pretended to be Zoe Quinn and fellated and jerked off invisible cocks. It seemed so mean spirited and gross for June, whose whole identity was having sex with Greg, to mock another girl for being “a slut”.

Also since when do pick-me's successfully reproduce? Both shoe0nhead and Pearl Davis are childless and unmarried and they are the top pick-me influencers. In fact it seems to be a trend with pick-me's that they can't seem to get picked.

I think it’s easier for autistic women in particular to fall for it. But they tend to have a harder time understanding group dynamics no matter if it’s men or women. As such, they’ll get bullied for being different, and use “pick-me” as a way to feel better. I don’t think the “pick-me” is always out of malice, sometimes it’s just from poor socialization.

Feel free to rate me autistic but, as you said, it is easier for autistic women to fall for the "Pick Me". I think this probably comes from being bullied by other girls in school. Girls can be vicious with their bullying at that age. Especially towards girls who are autistic or "eccentric". These girls probably found comfort in having male friends and probably developed a belief that male friendships are better then female ones as well as developed a unhealthy view of women due to being bullied. Usually when these girls get out of school and go into the workforce and interact with women who aren't bullies they grow out of that "Pick Me" mentality. Sadly that is not the case with some women.

I think a lot of people were once one at some point in life.

Also, I think it naturally occurs more on dating apps in particular since the goal is to stand out from the others. I can’t exactly fault people for that when trying to find a husband/boyfriend, but it also isn’t necessary either. There’s no need to put women down to set yourself apart. If you can’t stand out without belittling others, then maybe you aren’t worth dating. That’s my opinion.
