i am a cis female and i want top surgery. i present pretty masculinely, have short hair and dress masc and am already mistaken for a guy / nb a lot and it doesnt really bother me. as long as the people in my life know im a woman and refer to and see me as one, idrc about random people not understanding. but a lot of the people in my life don't seem to understand how i could still want to be a woman, but show a flat chest in public. i know a lot of you on this thread are trans guys / nbs. am i valid in feeling this way? i just feel like no one can understand how i would want to still be a woman and think maybe other people who have experiences with atypical gender expression may be able to help me feel like what i want is valid

it's called being gender nonconforming - you wouldn't be the first cis woman to want a flat chest/get top surgery and be happy with a flat chest and you definitely won't be the last. good luck with your journey homie! hope you can get top surgery
If women can want bigger tits then women can want no tits at all. Your physical comfort and your desire to present a certain way are absolutely valid reasons to pursue top surgery. Tits are a lot to deal with. You need to pay a plenty for garments and medical care, they significantly alter your silhouette, and just having them hang in there can be pretty uncomfortable.
They also are aggressively coded for femininity. If that’s not something you want it’s perfectly cool to fix the problem.
You may want to look into surgeons who offer care under informed consent. Getting surgery as a trans guy is a pain in the ass, but you are a woman, so you may encounter even more roadblocks. I advise you to search for care among doctors who have experience working with trans and gender nonconforming people. These professionals are generally flexible and open to alternative presentation. A regular surgeon may not fulfill your request entirely since, apparently, some docs are reluctant to remove a woman’s breasts despite said woman’s direct orders. So yeah, look into informed consent surgery, make sure you properly communicate your wishes to your provider, explore the options as there’s hella variations in top surgeries. And put your personal goals, comfort, and wishes above anyone’s opinion
Of course you're perfectly valid. Our chests are very personal to us, and everyone desires something different for their own. Some want huge boobs, others want small boobs, and some people want none at all. Just because society aligns bigger boobs with femininity, doesn't mean you need to conform to that standard. More and more people value self-expression over conformity, so... Welcome to the Club? It's your body, and Nobody has to be happy about it but you yourself. You get to define, change and enjoy it, and you don't need to be any specific gender to do so. It's also weird when people say women without breasts are not "real women", IMO. There are all kinds of medical reasons someone might get their breasts removed, a woman with breast-cancer doesn't lose her womanhood when their breasts are removed. Not saying it's the same as your case of course. But womanhood is more than boobies and dresses, and so is any other gender.
