And if you watch enough, you will see him snap at his wife and co-hosts over really weird and petty things.
One time it looked like Jimmy was about to kick Kurt Metzger out of the garage for talking more than him.
I've definitely noticed the tension on set, even on the more lighthearted milquetoast episodes. JD definitely seems like an asshole IRL with anger issues.
I recall when Dore was all fired up about West the first time he felt Anderson Cooper walked all over him on CNN, he screamed at Kurt to shut up because "he was talking".
Kurt Metzger is the best part of the show. I was first introduced to him playing a barfly on Louis CK's weird dramatic series Horace&Pete before CK was outed as a creep.
The setup is so awkward for Kurt tho, in that Jimmy rants while Kurt has to try to improv jokes in between from offscreen. JD definitely seems to have that Joe Rogan disease where he just sits there like a deer in the headlights while superior comedians riff jokes over his head.
His show is also the most boomer YT thing I've ever seen. I was so confused the first time I watched it live and they "went to a card". Which involves a real time commercial break without ads with a background image while Tropico 6 music plays.
It's cool they do the show live, but it's obvious Jimmy is stuck in his semi-MSM ways from his time at TYT.
It's also obvious he doesn't give a shit about superchats. He interrupts his wife who she is reading them mid-show when he is on break. And JD and his co-hosts literally leave the building at the end of the show while his poor female underlings are left to close things out by reading the pile of cringed one-liners from their paypigs.
What's the deal with Jimmy and his two cohosts usually Kurt and the other bearded White guy constantly switching their seating arrangements? Like it seems like they constantly have someone else sitting in Jimmy's main seat? Is he recording from vacation or home? or are they constantly playing a game of Musical Chairs every show?
Dore is still a dedicated road comic, so he seems to line up guest hosts often.
I haven't seen Metzger host the show, so he might not be trusted. Dore had Canadian journalist Aaron Mate from The Grayzone host the show a few months back, who has journalist bonafides, but no comedic chops.
Of late, he's had Craig "Pasta" Jardula, who seems like an activist of sorts and hosts his own YT show called the Convo Couch, which seems to be in the same disaffected liberal sphere as Dore, Hard Lens Media, the Revolutionary Black Network, Due Dissidence, etc.
I've watched a few of Craig's solo show since he started guest hosting a few weeks ago. From the comments he makes, it sounds like he knows a few days in advance when he'll be on Dore's show, but doesn't actually know if he'll be hosting or in the second or third chair until he gets there.
It sounds like everything is on a whim and according to Jimmy's fancy.
Sometimes when Jimmy is supposed to be out of town, he ends up guesting on his own show. Other times he has a guest host lined up, but makes them sit second or third chair because he feels like hosting that day.
