Furry Fandom and Drama General

Given Odin has a long history making an ass out of himself on YouTube and sensationalizing stupid shit, I feel like anything in his videos should be taken with a grain of salt.

A while ago, I debated making a thread/OP on Odin due to his constant attention-seeking behavior, but the problem is that he doesn't consistently put out milk like other lolcows. It's less of a stream of content and more of random notable spurts.

So random thought for my AC Kiwis: would there be enough interest for me to put the work into making a proper Odin OP?
You remember when he got his trailer full of sextoys stolen and some Chad YouTube videotaped him crying but never released the footage or mention of it and Odin still made a huge fucking stink about it?

I'd bet my first hand-made tail that if a thread goes up, even in PG he'd make a big stink about it like bluefolf did before it even hit AC.

Yeah, the youtuber in question took the video down, but there's a reupload, I don't know if it was posted already.

As long as you mention him grooming 16/17 year olds and giving him herpes and starting his own harem I'd be down. I'm sure he has a lot of Skellington in his closet that no one really know about will be fun to see what get unearthed.

Could never stand that pompous piece of shit. Degenerate diaperfur, whiny faggot, histrionic asshole. He checks a lot of boxes for a thread.

This second video is hilarious. He talks about how seeing his furfag friends doing drugs and drinking alcohol leaves him in a full fledged depression because his brother used to do drugs too. It's such a weak premise for a video, let alone a super serious one where he's nearly in tears and ends it with "support me, or don't, who even cares..." like a teenage girl.

His brother his may have been a drug addict living in a car on the street, but at least he wasn't a furry.

I went to watch that second video and I got a fucking add for a furry dating site and I just can’t any more.

Basically it's "noooo I need an excuse to put my narcissistic ass on camera and show off my unreasonably expensive fetish suit". It always is, with all of these "people".

There's really three types of cows worthy of proper treads:
  • Those who produce a constant stream of milk consistently enough to be noteworthy.
  • Those who produce the occasional spurt then nothing for a while, but the spurts are enough that they create an averaged out long term that puts them with the more consistent cows in output.
  • The absolute over productive freaks that get boards dedicated to them or the likes of the Kevin Gibes Inflated Universe.
It seems like Odin is of the second type.

I'd do drugs too if I were his brother, how else would you stand him.

I've got a rough draft of the Odin Wolf thread in the works already, and I've been tweaking it as I see fit. I'd say it's about 50-60% done, and I want to ensure the writing quality is on par with my other OPs.

I've got a group DM going where some Kiwis have given me feedback and suggestions on what to include. I don't give a fuck about ratings, so if anyone wants in on the group DM for the Odin OP and wasn't already invited, react to this post with a "horrifying" rating and I'll invite you.

I’m sad to pass on the news that Camrath / Henry Hamilton has killed himself at the age of 41. He spent 15 years as a furry, then left the fandom in 2014 and wrote the "Ask me about being a bitter, angry former furry" thread on Something Awful, still the best long read about what the fandom is really like.

The thread is archived in three parts here:

RIP the dude. I guess he managed to escape the fandom, but couldn't outrun the demons in the end.

That's unfortunate. Things seemed to be going his way, (at least from what he was saying in 2015) I wonder what happened...

I've never read these before and oh boy does it offer the best look into the fandom for the uninitiated. His postings about the fandom being a protracted adolescence is especially true nowadays.

Major feels from me. My timeline in the fandom wasn't exactly the same, but it certainly rhymed. The thing that struck me was that it took a period of separation to see how bad it was. Not to be too cliché, but if you take the frog out of the boiling pot, let him cool down for a bit, then stick him back in, the heat is suddenly apparent. That's what did it for me- all of a sudden the sheer insanity, the sheer perversity, the sheer rancid autism of it all hit me like a sack of bricks. I left with a look of disgust on my face and that was that. Now r8 me powerlevel.

Too bad he offed himself. I wish I had known about him earlier.

I wish I knew about this guy's story sooner as well. I don't really have much of an active con presence, but what he writes about with regards to the kinds of people the fandom attracts, namely socially reclusive teenagers from the occasional sheltered household disturbingly reminds me of how quite a handful of my own friends within the fandom who entered it in the early to mid-2010s. I don't know to what degree of this is colored by the fact that I too am a rather socially-maladjusted loner, but the fandom attracts these types like flies on shit. They also tend to have sheltered upbringings and live in liberal-ish suburban areas, so I personally suspect this overpermissiveness to stem from that late-90s/early aughts "live and let live" mentality inherited by Gen X, coupled with a simple desire to be accepted. Is it any surprise the sheltered kid with very few IRL friends is more willing to persuade himself the weird and heinous shit he gets exposed to is normal?

The whole situation kind of like moving to a big metro area when you're young and gradually growing disillusioned with the experience. Big cities in particular are mini third-world shitholes, so moving away becomes a desirable means of escape instead. However, whether your simply grew up in the city or moved there for school or work, it's hard to leave it once you've set roots there. Your friends are there, your support system is there, and the life you've grown accustomed to is there as well. If you spend a lot of time online, the furry fandom isn't much different in that regard.

YouTuber Brandon Buckingham (friends with Turkey Tom, has interviewed Mister Metokur) went to AnthroCon 2023 with an actual gangster from Washington DC's MLK Avenue (and some gay provocateur named BrodieTV). They stuck out like a sore thumb the whole time but were nice to everyone, but the psychos in charge of the event tried to get Brandon arrested for recording, leading to him sprinting out of the convention and hiding in a dumpster :story:
