Featured on Sep 18, 2023 by 0 0: "Down The Rabbit Hole" has taken on an unfortunate new meaning.
Fredrik Knudsen

Fredrik Knudsen is a Youtube documentarian mostly known for his series Down The Rabbit Hole. The series explores strange subjects ranging from history to internet culture and is widely successful while standing out from similar series due to the length of the videos, quality of research, and dry neutral tone.
Fredrik has a Youtube channel with 1.2 million subscribers, yet his last video was nearly 3 years ago.
He now mostly streams and, looking at the pictures below, you may notice an evolution...

...From normal face cam, #not a furry, furry jpeg, owl vtuber, to anime twink.
His YouTube subs are awaiting his next video and losing patience. To calm them, Fredrik decided to...become a vtuber anime boy and join a vtuber group?

Astraline Vtubing Inc.
What prevents him for releasing videos and what has he been doing with his time?
How did he get so disconnected from his fans?
What will happen first? Him releasing his six hour long Eve online video or trooning out?

Here's how DTRH started according to Fredrik:
So DTRH started out of suicidal mania? That explains his behaviour regarding his Youtube channel.
Very early we see two tendencies Fredrik has:
1) His penchant for autoflagellation
As an example, making two videos to correct minor unimportant mistakes in his videos.

2) His reticence with changing the DTRH formula
See below.

Note that he does not follow what his fans tell him. He loves to bitch about how doing a live DTRH or having guests made his sub count plummet, so he doesn't do it anymore.
The Furry Connection

Some of his downfall can be attributed to his furry video and entourage.
At first Fredrik says he's just furry adjacent:
But still he commissioned a fursona and an owl mask:

Let's talk about his furry friends, more specifically his coworkers.
Vex is a Austrian tranny furry freak

He's Fred's illustrator and loves to ship himself with Knudsen by making gay furry art:

This is called furry grooming, or the act of preparing someone to fur out by making a fursona for him and gay artwork.
Axcaxon is a furry freak from Iceland.
He's Fred's animator and part of the reason his Eve online video is delayed. Here's the kind of images he posts online.

This shit is mostly online, but I need to say that Fredrik went on a trip to Austria and Iceland. Coincidentally., Vex is from Austria and Axcaxon from Iceland.
Speaking of IRL, Fred went to a furry convention.

He did a a panel there and saw some of his online furry friend, most notably Night Mind.

Content Drought

Before the pandemic, Knudsen was actually in a great place. He was productive on his main channel and managed to branch out via a stream with Jabroni Mike and interviews.
His side content was still loosely based around his main content at the time.
The quality of his content diminished after his Deep Blue video.
Here's a good critique of his May Island video:
So a burnout and a personal loss!

Who's Spikey? His dog, cat, brother, dad?
Well to this day, Fredrik can't actually talk about it since it's such a heavy subject, but @The Yellow Dart actually found him.

Spikey was a 22 years old MtF transgender non-binary cubfur fursuiter named Ryan Templet who committed suicide a few months after starting HRT and was making FurAffinity accounts at as young as ten years old.
Here's a little sperg out from Fredrik regarding his content drought and state of mind:
Nigga is suicide baiting and hitting us with the famous "I am shaking and dilating right now."
Fredrik tried to insulate himself from the pain by avoiding his fans, who either called Fredirk the Yandere dev of YouTube, or things like this:

He found refuge in Vtubing with people that would give him praise and a hugbox:

The more his fans grew impatient and displeased, the more he withdrew himself into Vtubing.
The more he withdrew himself into Vtubing, the more his fans grew impatient and displeased.
Fredrik also answered a few questions about the kiwifarms for Motherjones. a progressive magazine.

He went from being neutral towards the farms and lolcow content to saying it's haram.
Astraline Arc

Fred ended up joining a Vtuber group called "Astraline."
Being a big brained boy, Fredrik even has some lore:
(Short version)
(Long version)
You might think this could divert him from working on his six hour Eve online video. But if you do, you are a retard according to Fredrik, as this will allegedly instead help him make the video faster.

SUS?

Yes, now Fredrik's gimmick is saying "hihihi I am super gay and twinkish" constantly.
Pretty funny when you know he looks like this:

What's next for Fredrik?
Actually his next video will tell us a lot (when it releases lol). He has hyped it a ton, saying it's six hour long and ultra ambitious. He even went to Eve Fanfest 2022 to hype it.

If the video does not perform well, is demonetized, kicks up controversies, or has blatant errors. don't be surprised if he kills himself or never make DTRH again.
The latest delay was due to the animator having tooth surgery and now a cold. He actually posted an update today and placed the blame on the animations

Here's how DTRH started according to Fredrik:
Down the Rabbit Hole began shortly after I graduated from college. That period of my life was not easy for me, and I did not expect that I would allow myself to live much longer after graduation. It was during what I thought were my twilight months that I made the first episode of Down the Rabbit Hole in three days as a piece for a job application, and while I never heard back from the company, the video did take purchase on YouTube, and so, I threw myself into production of further videos on any topic that fascinated me enough to share it. While they were rudimentary compared to what I produce now with my team, they became the dominant force in my life; quite simply, I had something for which to live.
This mania, however, proved unsustainable after four years of production, and the inevitable burnout began to set in after the production of the Deep Blue video. This burnout was evident in some sophomoric overgeneralizations and errors in my Battle of May Island video, and it carried over into the production of the video about EVE Online.

A significant portion of the production time for the Battle of May Island was spent recuperating. This burnout came at a horrible time because, as some of you might have divined from the ending of the Deep Blue video, I suffered a personal loss last year (about which I'm still reticent to speak, though I'm working on a project that will likely be made public to express it) and didn't allow myself the time to grieve, instead trying to power through it to keep working. This proved counterproductive.
So a burnout and a personal loss!

Here's a little sperg out from Fredrik regarding his content drought and state of mind:
I am happy I am alive. Not killing myself is a success
When I returned from my trip to Iceland, I was demolished. Whenever I attempted to sit down to write the script, the anxiety and private embarrassment borne from my secret act of plagiarism would appear. The majority of this script has been written with trembling hands and a heightened heart rate, and progress was slow due to difficulty focusing. My hands shake now as I write this.

Hey everyone! You get Fredrik this week for the progress update. Poor Arcaxon caught cold this week, but he was able to make significant progress. He's currently finishing up the most complicated map covering the most recent war, describing PAPI moving in on the Imperium's territory. We'll be meeting this week to discuss the remaining animations for accuracy.
I also wanted to take a moment to acknowledge some of the things that elongated the production process to such an extreme degree; two years, even for such a large project, is unacceptable to me when all of you are supporting at regular intervals. I want to maintain confidence that videos are still coming and that progress is being made.
To that end, the whole team will be meeting upon this video's completion and we're going to discuss what caused this from each of our perspectives and what can be done to prevent it in the future. Many of the problems that we faced were relatively small and unobtrusive during smaller videos, but they became much larger problems as the length became larger, and even though we're going back to smaller projects after this, we'd like to make sure that nothing like this happens again.
The problem that we're facing now is bottlenecking. All of the assets are completed except for the animations, which were waiting on me until recently, which was another bottleneck. This isn't the first time; multiple times during production of this video, I have been the bottleneck that was holding up production, and we're going to examine this and attempt to create a new pipeline that will, hopefully, make video creation a much more streamlined process. I refuse to let this happen again.
I'll see you all again soon.
