Trying to piece together more of Fredrik Knudsen's past before and during early parts of Down The Rabbit Hole.

His first (publicly available) video received a shout out on Twitter from Jim Sterling in 2016 which resulted in him getting his first big set of views, oddly the Jim Sterling tweet doesn't seem to exist anymore.




Apparently he also has some affection and perhaps some relation to the now shut down hero shooter game Gigantic:

His narrative is more epic than that. He's fighting all bigotry and lies across the multiverse .... 's library. Near as I can tell it's:

• History is written by the victors
• Victors are biased in their own favor, and were terrible bigots in other ways modernity condemns
• Everything is a lie or at best a quarter-truth
• Caligula was the victim of such victor-historians writing that he was crazy and liked it in the ass and stuff
• The undercurrent of hateful lies throughout all historical accounts is poisoning the mystic Histor-tree.
• The bigotry manifests as black-purple energy like in Sailor Moon.
• Exposure causes our hero to faint. Also like in Sailor Moon.

I don't exactly agree with all of this interpretation. I didn't get the sense that the video was decrying the bigoted victors or supporting the oppressed underclass, it simply stated that history is, by and large, a incomplete story that we tell ourselves to make sense of the past. As it says, the accounts of the venerated and the despised are equally valuable because from a historical perspective, that is essentially correct. Personally, I know that in 50 years, I will remember someone like Joshua Moon's account of the 2020s more favorably than someone like Donald Trump's, but only because of my opinion. And my opinion does not constitute history. The corruption in the library of humanity does not come from without, but within - when people cut themselves off from information for whatever reason. Which obviously makes his retarded take on the Kiwi Farms laughable.

You can't say anything is wrong or bad because some people live that way and are offended. Even when its being a fucking furry lol

But what is the corruption? Hate? Sometimes hate is good, even necessary. Is it lies? If it's lies, then the magic of the library is preserving objective truth, and the corrupting influence is deliberate falsehoods. If it's completely neutral library of humanity, then how is an alternate account a corruption at all. It's just more book. Is the corruption ignorance? A library is the antithesis of ignorance, because it's a record of knowledge.

Plus his example is fucking Caligula. If my post was critical its because he seems to emphasize his message by selecting him for a subject.

Well this is disappointing considering a lot of his older (pre-covid) DTRH videos are genuinely good. Really the only ones that I disliked were Wings, Deep Blue, and The Battle of May Island for their periods where they give needlessly slow and excessively detailed breakdowns of certain events that are largely unnecessary for presenting the bigger picture, and felt like padding for the documentary's length.

Also his comment on the Farms's users is surprisingly tone-deaf coming from someone who's clearly used the site himself over the years. A little too much projection methinks.

I find it laughable he included this as some sort of profound wisdom. Anyone who took a history class above the highschool level already knows this shit...I wouldn't even go that far, if you have a modicum of critical thinking ability you should already know that any written work is going to be inherently biased in some way.
