Thoughts on these lists fellas ? I'd like to get the man hate thread's participants' thoughts for the films on the right if I wasn't threadbanned.
My immediate reaction to this was:
- Why the hell is point break on both lists lmao
- I love how half the films on "Men will never understand core" are about sex and relationships
Her is quite cringe, its like an avant garde movie about a mans relationship with a woman from a mens perspective filtered through a womans perspective ie what a woman thinks a man would think if hes in a relationship with an AI.
Taxi Driver and Falling Down are essentially the same movie with subtle differences, I wouldnt put both of them on the same list.
Apocalypse Now and Full metal Jacket are not "Mens movies" although Full metal Jacket was Kubricks attempt at preaching about the vietnam generation and how they were spoilt brats.
I would replace Dead poets society with Good will Hunting cause I found that to be more personally relatable but thats just me.
I would add Dirty Harry and Unforgiven to complete the Eastwood kino trilogy.
Drive is cringe
Replace Last Samurai with something else, Seven Samurai is already there so I would probably add Yojimbo which is the defacto anti hero archetype movie.
I would replace Whiplash with the episode from the Boondocks where Riley learns painting from Blonde Bob Ross. Its simple, more emotionally resonant, not as long and communicates basically the same thing.
Replace Zulu with some other Michael Caine adventure movie from that time, probably man who would be king. Remove Lawrence of Arabia as well cause its basically the same thing.
Shawshank is fine but I feel it loses its value the more you watch it.
2001 is unnecessarily complex and boring.
Bridge on River Kwai is fine, pretty good movie.
There will be Blood seems out of place, you may sympathize with Day Lewis's character but towards the end nobody likes him.
I like Raiders and Last Crusade more than Blade Runner as Harrison Ford man movies, but thats just me.
Ive not watched the rest, I cant even read some of the titles.
Also add Fight Club and some fun war movie, probably Inglourious Basterds or where Eagles Dare or Kelleys Heroes, something like that. Some other 70s American Western too, probably Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the best movie starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise before they got an acting career. Maybe Marty as well from 1955 which is the only romance movie which seems well done from both the man and the womans perspective, the only normal rational whitepill romance movie ive seen.
Havent seen most of the stuff on the womans list except night porter, most of it seems like arthouse emo faggotry.
Night porter itself is just borderline porn, its like fifty shades of grey set in Nazi Germany where a concentration camp guard fucks a jewish woman, which is what the movie is about. I saw it cause I was looking for Nazisploitation films to watch to supplement my Wolfenstein addiction at the time.
Edit: I almost fucking forgot, add The Great Escape to the list. Thats a fucking right of passage film for guys.
