if judge judy were in charge of every court case, no woman would get special treatment. judge judy smites all with the unisex hammer of justice
I remember people getting mad at her because she has never claimed to be a feminist or felt that feminism had a noticeable impact on her career. She's a tough bitch.

call me optimistic but i think female judges like judge judy for example, are better suited for judging female criminals. They're less likely to give them sympathy compared to a boomer male judge. if anyone less lazy than me has any studies that prove this wrong i'm interested to see

Could very well be. There's men that those tactics don't work on as well, but I think it is more of a core male instinct to be more responsive to it. I'd argue that we need more judges like Judy overall since she's realistic and to the point but is still empathetic. She worked in child courts long before she did small claims on TV.

American Psycho the book was written by a (closeted at the time) gay man where the book is simultaneously used to criticize American consumerism and as a way for the author to work through his drug addiction and self loathing of his gayness.

American Psycho the movie is directed by a women who focused the film on the absurd levels of shallow toxic masculinity that Patrick and his "friends" display.

The irony of course is that most of the real psychotics, and certainly the worst of them, are socialists. It's the people who claim to despise consumerism and capitalism who do all the actual killing, including of their close comrades.

I also think feeling an obligation to your family and your "capitalist" society and so therefore trying to get ahead in your chosen career being dismissed as "toxic masculinity" is especially hilarious - as if living in a blue tent, dressing as a woman, having gay sex so you can score meth, looting the local Walgreen's and fighting with the cops to gain validation from your Antifa friends was so much more healthy.

... the ultimate point is such a life style is just as devoid of meaning and impact as the rest of the non-murderous wallstreet rats ...

Because the only authentic life is a socialist one. I've heard this one too.

I have an "uncultured swine" take on why Patrick Bateman is viewed so positively. He has wealth, power and bitches at his disposal. Moreover he kills people who annoy him and get away with it. Forget the ideological nuances and the implied Leftist propaganda horseshit, which most people these days have long ago learned to ignore. Bateman is about getting what you want when you want it, and damn the consequences. For similar reasons gangster movies were popular in the 1930s.

Besides, the sort of people he kills are the very type of rich pretentious limousine liberal hypocrites who virtue signal about social justice for the common man over dinner at Dorsia. Who doesn't want to put an axe in the face of someone like that?

Bateman doesn't get what he wants. When he calls his lawyer to confess to 30+ murderers he gets laughed at. He gets mistaken for a businessman he axed murdered. When he hangs out with his friends they see him as more pathetic and weak as a dying antelope. This is not an exit because despite having access to everything and committing acts beyond that, Patrick only feels dissatisfied and dejected. Excess tends to leads too disillusionment and Patricks perfect life leads him down a path of literal/fantasied murder in order to satisfy false pretenses of his inflated persona.

This is entirely unrelated to discussions of American Psycho works.

Bateman also kills plenty of homeless people, downtrodden women and animals; none of which deserve violent death.

This was my takeaway as well. He thought that he was at least in control of his life the entire time, that he was getting away with the murders because of his cunning or whatever, but in fact his existence is inelastic and he really doesn't have the freedom to change his situation, or control people's perceptions of him. Or something like that.

check out how she lays into this dangerhair with a mega chin. judge judy should have been the once to sentence karla homolka TBH

I'm not talking about what American Psycho was trying to say. I'm talking about what a viewer gets out of it. It's like the Bolsheviks using Grapes of Wrath to show how bad it was in the US, only for Russian viewers to gawk at how rich even the poorest Americans are.

To many viewers, Bateman is "awesome" and "bad ass" like Rick Sanchez or John Wick, despite the conflicting personal issues, dubious ethics and critiques of "capitalism" the artists are attempting to highlight through these characters.. I would have expected uncultured swine to understand.

The girl I am dating often vents about women are pathetic friends and how their female society will eat each other.

Bros he fell for the meme

The other thing that we aren't privy to as much is that women extort the fuck out of each other. In the man world the idea of BYOB is so firmly coded that we don't understand just how transactional female friendships are.

Didn't bring a bottle of wine to the gals night cause you are broke? You'll never be invited back. Too tired to take Jen shopping and for another ten dollars worth of starbucks she will never pay back? I hope you enjoy friday night with your cat.
