"Also, this is an interesting thing to really talk about, Vichan, and I assume all websites running it, is under the supervision of a person who oversees Soyjak party. I wonder if that is an issue or not, and if this changes the current scope of involvement."

You seem to be implying, and confused, that whoever develops Vichan, the software has control over the many imageboards running Vichan, the software. Kiwifarms certainly isn't in a "ring" with the company that develops XenForo just because Kiwifarms is on XenForo forum software.
It makes even less sense for open source software like vichan. There is no "The Vichan" organization, most imageboards are running modified copies of it. The version these guys picked up had been abandonware for years, it might be the closest to a central version, but it's effectively just another version since using it is voluntary.

TLDR Any imageboard running vichan doesn't have to have anything to do with the people who decide to develop vichan.

Ah I see, thank you for enlightening me to how it actually works; because it was my belief that Mr Kuznetsov, and current relevant associate Angeleno were involved in their own internet/data profiling operation called Kolyma Security Services, (and this purchase was pre AIDS/Dissolution of said firm.) and that there was a very big potential for something a little bit more deeper to this purchase, that just doing an internet good thing.

Since that is not how the system operates, that fear can be set aside I suppose; however it is a very strange thing to say out loud isn't it? "The current admin of Soyjak party, a website that has on multiple occasions failed users with privacy for either chaotic or personal malevolence by multiple owners/administrators, is also the current lead Dev of Vichan, a very common alt chan software."

Then again, Elon Musk owns Twitter and Starlink, and Cody Rhodes, one of the founders of AEW is back with WWE, so stranger things can be said.

Kolyma Security Services
My own opinion is that every Kolyma "department" was a LARP and the company didn't actually do anything except hosting shitty imageboards, offering to host general websites for money, and taking over shitty imageboards from owners who are probably already fed up and sold it for pennies. I'm actually curious if you can find anything that Network Security Services have done that's more substantial than having "declassified" files written about "public enemies".

I can't find a source at the moment, and if I'm wrong please ignore the following, but I vaguely remember hearing that soyjak.party was Kolyma's largest imageboard purchase. We do know Soyjak.party was sold from its original owner to Kolyma for $2,000, and it was considered a generous evaluation from the initial $600. So when Kolyma's unstoppable purchase of many imageboards has the impression of a sinister organization with strangely deep pockets for unprofitable websites (thus one wonders if they're buying them for datamining), remember that they're buying each small imageboard for less than $2000. Again, from owners who will accept a few hundred bucks to give up to someone else the privilege of cleaning up CP on a daily basis.

Soyjak.party is 2nd imageboard of the internet in order of activity, and the 1st vichan imageboard in activity. It's not so strange the largest vichan imageboard would be modifying vichan for their unique needs, if not leading development. A feature that they implemented recently is a limiter for the number of threads that can be made per hour, because soyjak.party suffered from botted thread creations that wiped entire boards. 4chan has this kind of protection, but vichan software couldn't until they wrote the code themselves.

I want to point out I'm aware of other vichan-based boards with this protection, but it did need to be added by hand. Considering that they're why many boards would want this kind of protection, I wouldn't trust it at all coming from them.

Second to who, 4chan? Does the sharty really have more users than, say, ylilauta? Or are we not counting non-English imageboards?
It's usually stated that soyjak.party is second to 4chan in activity of english-speaking imageboards. This is still true, but it's different if you count the non-english imageboards, I just found out.
I wasn't counting ylilauta and I'm honestly surprised by its numbers considering I don't hear hear about that often, 5451 posts per hour?, that's /pol/ levels (according to getwatcher.net /pol/ has about 5312 PPH). Getwatcher.net tracks numbers of many other imageboards, and is where the claim that soyjak.party is more active than other imageboards comes from. Where /soy/ has 15120 posts per day which you can see is only surpassed by some of 4chan's boards.
Getwatcher doesn't count ylilauta, might there be another notable site missing from it? The Altchan Dick Measurement Rankings need to be updated. (In our heads, no one's writing long screeds about it, I hope)

You don’t hear about it often because the site is in Finnish, very popular in Finland, but not internationally. (It does have a lot of ‘pull’ in terms of memes, as many older 4chan memes actually originate there).

AFAIK there’s also Japanese, Russian, and German imageboards that are very popular among those who speak those languages as well.

Oh, and nairaland.com, if you ever wanted to know what a Nigerian 4chan looks like.

Nairaland is a forum, not an image board. It is hilarious and occasionally fairly informative though. Always fun to read African news through their own lens. And learn about all the advanced forms of tribal racism.

This is my second post defending the new developers of vichan, I promise I am not personally involved. I just don't see what could possibly be fishy about it, the protection is just an update for the software. It's not some live service where you give away the keychain of your party van that your regular users commute to. The code added in the update couldn't be more transparent in the commit history of the Github page.

I think those would be:
  • Japanese - https://5ch.net (numbers not tracked by getwatcher)
  • Russian - https://2ch.hk (numbers not tracked by getwatcher. Looking at their frontpage, their /b/ alone is 2461 PPH which is more than /soy/'s 500 PPH in getwatcher.)
  • German - https://kohlchan.net (is tracked by getwatcher)
Oh and 2ch's /int/ was briefly colonized by soyteens when the main site fell:

Of course half of those to /pol/ are interracial cuck porn, half of the remaining is shills and AI bots, half of the remaining is glowposting and schizoposting, and the rest is just retarded.

Scouts honor pinkie promise with a cherry on top?

Admittingly my lack of knowledge on the process is embarrassing to say the least, and I deserved to be educated on it, although when a not even month old account that focuses only on the sharty, and then quotes Kuz/Kolyma lines about the website...thats may just be the tiniest bit of stretches to say there's no personal involvement.

While I do thank you for informing me theres nothing to be worried about and how the process works, the other bits are just a bit curious. Especially with the asking about Security Network stuff and wanting to know if there is more. (Which is not doable due to its supposed dissolution)

Not that I'm saying I dont believe you altogether, just that I believe you may have a bias in regards to the specific area poked. However, that is okay. This thread is plagued for a reason, pretty sure most people talking in this thread are either Sharty regulars, Kolyma people, Discord invaders, Investigators (private and public), and Kiwifarmers enjoying the show.

About kolyma being a larp, was 9chan ever actually real?
it might have been, it was temporarily brought back as a splinter by (((MAX))) during the soypocalypse, I posted screenshots in the thread. Just looked like your average BBS board from the early 2000s, nothing really stood out about it.

Yeah, but probably way smaller than (((((kuz))))) claims it to be
