That's a really good point. I haven't seen anything geared towards older trans people in specific despite the fact that that population is probably in need of specialized services. That could be a great project for them alongside the hotline, that is if they actually gave a fuck about anything other than pocketing the money to spend on themselves.

. I really hope that person didn't do it and ideally went to the ER. Shit didn't sound good though. That case is exactly why calling 911 is sometimes needed. From personal experience it seems like it's usually an ambulance and a fire truck who respond to suicidal people, not the police, so fear of police is basically a non-issue.

Eh, not as much as you might think. Most normal people still don't give a fuck who these idiots are or have never heard of them, anyone important they might be able to influence thinks they are shit, and their reputations are so tainted at this point neither will ever be able to hold down a steady job again because of all the negative shit that has stuck.
Also, this isn't 2014 anymore, where these idiots were believed unequivocally and the media was completely complicit. The scales have fallen from a ton of eyes, and the media itself is held in little regard by a huge chunk of the public these days.

That maybe true however rember that history needs it's janitors, we are the guy's running around checking fact's making sure that there is at least a accurate record of what's happened so that it can be dissected later on and hopefully the event can be taken in context.

I wonder how many other charities have fallen down the asspat hole. I helped with a small charity in the early 2000's. The woman who started it had some attitude issues, but was passionately involved with the charity, and having to deal with people face to face forced her to keep the crazy contained in order to grow the charity. Everything was going fine, the charity was helping more and more, growing slowly but steadily...
And then the leader got on facebook. Suddenly people who never had to deal with her were telling her how perfect and saintly she was for starting said charity. She started spending more time wallowing in asspats than actually tending to the charity's goals. Since asspatters were telling her she was wonderful she stopped holding back her crazy when dealing with the real world. After all, if people rejected her now it was because they were badwrong, not because she acted like a bitch. Pretty much all the volunteers including myself dropped out. She keeps getting the occasional real life sucker in, but they rarely last more than three months, where the previous volunteers had multiple years experience.
TL;DR- Social media is a cancer that encourages people to act like dicks.
