Expanding on the excellent FAQ above, here are specific Ashley details that may or may not be helpful:
Situation with Rebecca, her mother:
--Ashley's anorexia began as a way to punish Rebecca for trying to prevent Ashley, age 13-14, from posting nudes on 4chan during her Hamtaro-chan days. Later Ashley began to groove on the negative attention but initially it was revenge that motivated her. Ashley to this day has white knights wringing their hands over why it is Rebecca won't help her poor suffering child and that's what Ashley wants - she wants people to think her mother is responsible for this slow suicide and does nothing to help.
--Rebecca feels a lot of guilt about Ashley and has tried to fix the problem but she's a waitress with limited income - they live in a one-bedroom apartment. She cannot pay for the extreme treatment Ashley needs, even if Ashley would go. Ashley's father is not involved in her life.
--Ashley guilts Rebecca into buying her extraordinary amounts of binge foods, or at least has in the past, and engaged in advanced passive-aggression when her mother balked at spending so much money on food Ashley would puke up. Ashley engaged in a scorched earth campaign to punish her mother for not giving her the foods she wanted by telling everyone her mother had gotten a boob job and therefore had plenty of money but was denying her anorexic daughter food. Also those binge/purge sessions are likely why Ashley is alive. She gets just enough glucose absorbed before she pukes to stave off death another week or so. And she's so weak she cannot purge with easy any longer, which is why she is cutting out her beloved Krispy Kremes - that dough doesn't come up well anymore.
--Rebecca is a hot mess but she's also so screwed in regards to Ashley that I don't even think her specific dysfunction matters anymore.
Getting Ashley help:
--People who moan over her not getting help do not understand the constraints of the Baker Act in Florida and should read it carefully before they spout off about how Ashley is DYING HALP HER OH WHY WILL NO ONE HALP THIS STARVING ANGLE! Ashley is not a risk to others and even few of those who know her believe she is committing slow suicide so she cannot be institutionalized and even then what emergency facility can handle her problem? Baker Act is meant for acute mental illness - what fucking facility meant for schizophrenics off their meds and active psychosis have the staff trained to deal with a 40 pound adult who will not eat except for binging and purging and whose bones will shatter if you look at her too long?
--But let's pretend she could get sectioned and end up in an appropriate hospital. Inpatient care would be at least a year - who pays for it? Dr Phil reached out to Ashley to give her help and she refused. She wants to be like this and has no will to recover and until she does all the handwringing is a waste of time.
--Rebecca has been dealing with this for over a decade. Does anyone think she hasn't done everything to save her kid? Her attempt to save her kid is what caused this in the first place - Ashley is nasty and disordered beyond belief - more on this. What can Rebecca do short of throwing her kid out on the street if she doesn't call Dr Phil and beg to become his freak of the week in order to get care? Could you throw Ashley on the street? What would your reaction be if Rebecca created such a bottom line? Mostly people would call her out as being cruel. Rebecca has no options but either to toss out her ill child and watch her die immediately or keep her as safe as she can and watch her die slowly.

--She is a frightening manipulator. She is a lesbian who delights in stalking and making friends with healthy, attractive women, largely heterosexual women, who try to be kind to her because she is a skeleton waiting to die. Ashley then will manipulate those friendships in an attempt to develop into romance, forcing the women into a position wherein they have to reject a woman who appears to be suffering worse than a Holocaust victim. She posts their pictures online, creates a situation that is hard for them to get out of and delights in seeing them squirm when she reveals she wants to be their girlfriend.
--She manipulates people online into becoming her friends and giving her gifts from her Amazon wishlist. She arranges gift exchanges and sends dollar store crayons and cheap chinese cosmetics in exchange for hundreds of dollars of gifts. Her friendships never last for more than a couple of months and they almost never last past the gift exchanges. If you meet in real life she will exploit you for binge/purge comfort food Rebecca no longer provides - mac and cheese is a favorite - and become angry if you decline.
--She loves attention. She adores being dropped off at Target, where she swans around all day in her wheelchair, talking photographs and selfies. She loves showing herself wearing clothes meant for toddlers, often posing in the children's section to do it. She knows she makes people uncomfortable and that she attracts stares and she loves it.
--She adores triggering people in precarious situations online. Children recovering from anorexia can expect nasty little comments in their instagrams. She is the ghost at the feast.
--She knows intellectually she is going to die. But because she is an extreme narcissist she also thinks she will live forever, that she is the One Ana to Rule Them All, that she is much better at starving than all the weak ass sisters who died before her. She lives her life as if she will live forever because bodily perfection is not the goal - destroying her mother is the goal. So if she dies tomorrow she's okay with it as long as she knows Rebecca will suffer the rest of her life.
