List 'em. Fortunately, I have yet to witness such a travesty IRL but I have seen it play out online as it was happening. I used to follow this angry reviewer on YT:


The dude was another AVGN clone during 2007 Youtube but he was one of the funnier reviewers and his big thing was covering Metal Gear. He had an on and off again relationship with his YT and it got copyright striked at least once or twice. Then he came back in 2017, was making reviews, he had a wife and a good job. Everything seemed to be going well for this dude until around 2019 or so he trooned out and became this thing:

There was some hinting of this back around 2017 when he had this faggy half shaved haircut and liked to show pics himself posing with a thong. We all thought the thong pics were just a joke... More than anything else I just feel bad for his wife. They seemed like normal and decent people. You can tell she's not happy with it because last I checked she had one and only one photo of him on her Insta and it was a pic of him not in drag. For all I know the wife is long gone and who could blame her? It's just a sad situation more than anything.

The saddest example of someone becoming trans happened when he was only a few years older than me. A friend of mine, a longtime friend of my father's who I knew had always identified as female, had become enraged with my father for some inexplicable reason (I never did figure out what it was), and went to my parents to complain. To my surprise, and to the relief of my father and me, my father agreed with her, accepting her words at face value.

I saw two cases. Two creepily similar cases. Offline and online.
Both of them were almost identical types of British nerd. Into Dr. Who, Thunderbirds and the like. Both dumpy sacks that were understandably ashamed of themselves. Both the perfect candidates.
It was a bit surreal and stuck in my mind.

The IRL one was a theatre kid I knew. He was pretty much a big weepy blob who liked to hide in his shed and make Dr. Who cosplays. He also had a penchant for drag performances. Our story begins after he came out as gay - to nobody's surprise - and started on the local acting circuit. When I say "local acting circuit", I specifically mean *those guys*. The whiny liberal "artistes". He was doing all sorts of terrible shows that made zero money but he was finally in a circle that validated him. His ego began to grow. He started dressing like a looney and getting into cat fights with other equally stupid people. He began creating this bizarre persona for his public image, putting on an exaggerated lower class dialect that he'd never known. Adopting an "uncle tom" caricature of the country he lived in.
He's technically only "genderqueer" but it's a troonout in spirit.

The online one was an artist called BroToad. He was just a guy with a shitpost Mega-Man comic tumblr and yeah... you can see the issue already*. Looking back, you could always read between the lines and tell that something was wrong. What with them making jokes about mpreg and other bizarre tumblr fads. I however - being a dumb preteen - was too naive to get even a lot of the non in-jokes. I checked their main blog once or twice and it was filled with shit like a low resolution world where gender doesn't exist and a fictional disneyland rollercoaster that impales your penis between two colliding carts.

It's funny actually. This guy got retweeted by MomBot of all people (another troon) and they sent a couple of friendly replies back and forth. Collusion?!?!
Then again, I suppose it's a bit like when Guru Larry retweeted Brandon/"Cate" Wurtz's Lain fanart.

Anyway. The final chapter of this story is that a certain Toby Fox was also a fan of the shitpost Mega-Man comic (you can even see his comments on the blog) and he ended up hiring the guy for the Deltarune team.

*Before I knew where the rot was coming from, I actually considered the Tumblr sphere to be pretty cool. I considered starting a blog of my own and even signed up for an account there. Another one of those times I've dodged a massive fucking bullet by virtue of being lazy. Well. Sort-of. I think even back then I was too abrasive to assimilate ...but I was still just one kid against an entire nation of trained groomers.

A lot of gay men who do drag seem to troon out because of the positive attention they get while in drag that they don't get otherwise. Most gay porn actors choose drug use and circuit parties (for those unfamiliar, see Circuit Queen Sideshows on Social Media) instead of trooning out as their preferred midlife crisis, but some in the femboy/twink/drag circles do troon out because they only succeed socially when in womanface.

Although you wont be able to have a proper shit the rest of your life, and may have GRIDs or some kind of anal cancer. So it's probably better to be an incel in your 20s if you can't make enough cheddar to attract broads.
