I think the lolsuit broke Masterson. While he appeared to come out on top (in so far as he wasn't compelled by the courts to pay out millions to a man with the dead-eyes of Armenian serial killer, who decorated the walls above his bed with rad shark decals) I believe that the damage that Maddox was able to do to his career and to his standing within the LA comic community resulted in him giving up on any kind of long-term plans he may have had in that area.
