Switching to Unity and ditching their in house engine did not saved them in the end. End of an era despite them celebrating their 30th anniversary not long ago. They closing down was expected to happen any time, but they caused their own demise IMHO:My dream of AA3 is truly dead since ILLUSION is ceasing development of games.
This legitimately upsets me. Almost everything Illusion makes is janky shit, but they hit on something special with AA2... and then just never gave us anything else like it. (Shut up, Koikatsu was trash.)My dream of AA3 is truly dead since ILLUSION is ceasing development of games.
Now if only Maxis (or whatever skinwalker studio is using that name these days) would quit "updating" the game and constantly breaking the mods. I just gave up on the game last year and kind of sigh every time I think about taking a fucking afternoon to fix it all.Realistically you'd be hard pressed to find a porn game that's better then Sims4+WhickedWhims+all the mods with your fetish, and it would be largely free. some mods do expect you have certain content packs to work, but those mods can be skipped.
Piracy is still a option and is truly the only way to play a illusion game. Also didn't Illusion come back as "Illgames" literally a week or so after announcing their shutdown? With the end of Illusion, they are delisting all their games from all store fronts on August 18th.

I doubt abandonware sites would list porn games. They never have as far as I know, but could be wrong on that.
This. Their new game is called Honeycome and looks to be a mixture of Koikatsu and Honey Select. I'm glad the studio still exists however, Illusion going would be a bummer as they're the only ones putting out Poser like studio software for people to use.Piracy is still a option and is truly the only way to play a illusion game. Honeycome looks neat, but we'll have to wait and see if it takes Koikatsu position as the top dog in the niche. The Modding scene is very important to the KK community and has been around for a while, so Honeycome has a lot of ground to cover.This. minecraft thread might be more suited, not sure there's one in community watch. for me mod != game (would also open the floodgates for skyrim mods), but that's just me.
two possibilities, modders finally crack open il2cpp so it works for any release the future, or a repeat of play home where they simply don't bother due to locked down and minimal improvement and everyone kept using heavily modded honey select, or KK in this case.Honeycome looks neat, but we'll have to wait and see if it takes Koikatsu position as the top dog in the niche. Might talk about AI art for a minute. I actually don't mind it. There's two examples that come to mind in that being Interstellar Harem which uses character models coupled with descriptive writing make it seem more than it is. The images are helping sell what is written. This is the same case as Masters of Raana, which has been using AI art for event scenes recently. Raana recently got it's big 0.8.2 update. The dev was working on the game as a side project till 6 months ago when he went full time, And despite earning about 8k a month, his patreon hasn't been scrapped by kemono.party. He releases his backers edition through discord, anybody who would scrape would get called out.
Anyway, AI art when done correctly is another tool for devs to use. It can look uncanny though, so I get why not everyone wants to use it.
Much like work done by competent artists, good results take time even with AI art processes and you will probably need to manually clean up the various outputs. Anyone who has spent any time at all on the internet looking at artwork over the last year can probably recognize AI generated artwork at a glance more often than not as a lot of it has a very similar style/feel. There's really only two "problems" with it, and both of them are less the fault of the art generation and more the fault of the creator.Oh shit, I made a note about Roundscape. Oh man, this. So Roundscape wasn't in the best state before the Gold Patch. Bugs about and this was supposed to fix that.
It didn't. Instead, this patch introduced more bugs, made the game worse and then the art. Roundscape has always had inconsistant quality to it's art, it's a legacy game from 2016 so that comes with the territory. Instead of doing what Last Soverign does and slowly make it all quality from a single artist, they fed the art through stable diffusion and put the AI art in to replace the old ones.
AI art has exploded in popularity since it's been discovered. Last time I checked, rule34.xxx has 80k images in like a year since it's been publicly available.
They were making 20k a year and resorted to AI art. Tells you all you need to know about this. Skip it.
There's no way that isn't going to turn out horribly for everyone involved. But seriously, why the hell would you mod Minecraft of all things for that? If you find rectangles arousing there's no need to bother modding a children's game; just glance around and there should be enough objects in your vicinity to keep you going until you die of dehydration or blood loss via chafing.
Nobody mentioned this yet ITT, so I'll do so by replying to this 2 month old post (sorry about that), but Illusion reformed to Illsoft, they're working on some Koikatsu looking game and /h/ is on suicidewatch because apparently it's shit for modding. There's not much info on why they closed the studio and reopened immediately with a new name.My dream of AA3 is truly dead since ILLUSION is ceasing development of games.
Probably tax fraud or bankruptcy fraud. There's not much info on why they closed the studio and reopened immediately with a new name.
The thing is that you actually have the tools available to you to help keep characters somewhat consistent, it's just not as simple as flipping a switch or writing some extra words in your prompt. The biggest problem that could be attributed to AI art itself (but really shouldn't be) is consistency; if you're creating something where you need lots of artwork of a character in different poses/clothing/expressions, then you really need to take the time and effort to pick models that'll give you style/look and feel consistency between everything you're generating (and probably pick a style/look that isn't basically AI art default that's oh so recognizable). Then you'll need to make LoRAs/models for the characters/outfits/whatever so characters look consistent and aren't suddenly wearing completely different clothes when they go from a standing pose to crossing their arms or have their face swapped out for someone else between renders. Lots of experimentation, time and effort required for a good result, which leads to the second issue...

>PC-98My abandonware does have a adult section
Lots of PC98 games were developed in an era where the censors didn't really understand computers, and the games could be made by 1-5 man teams.>PC-98
Seems to be the go-to platform for old-skool anime visual novels I've noticed.
Thank god I didn't get too invested in that, Jesus.- Renryuu: I'll admit I'm sunk cost on this one. The dev is planning over 180 children at some point in the future. He's made lengthy forum posts about each one spitballing ideas. His autism is honestly driving me to keep playing, just to see what he puts in next.
That site also has a lot of Illusion games. My abandonware does have a adult section
