The descent into madness: clips from one hour of Rekieta's Sept 29 stream
I wanted to give a summary of how things went off the rails.
1hr45: Eric July's problem is that he thinks he's the smartest person in the room.
Rekieta assumes he is the dumbest person in the room, even though he has been told "constantly" that "you are the smartest person in the room, that you're so gifted, you're so intelligent." Nick has been told this his "whole life".
He transitions to seething about being considered a lesser legal mind because he's on YouTube. He's comfortable about being on YouTube and knows he's not a college professor. He says "I'm a good communicator who tells jokes and makes people laugh." Nick doesn't want to practice law. It's way more fun to "drink and tell jokes".
Nick has never taken a case to a jury trial. He says he took "two custody cases to judge trials".
July may think he is the smartest guy in the room because people are racist and say condescending things about how "smart and articulate" he is (the similarity to what Nick says he is told at the top of this clip does not appear to him). Eric July's problem is that he let get success to his head.
Nick still loves July: "you're still a great dude".
1hr59: Rekieta screams that he knows what he's talking about on the financials because all his friends have made comics.
Nick has July's best interests at heart, saying "what [July] said is inviting problems. That's what I'm trying to teach, and help, and assist..."
2hr01: This is where he starts seething in detail at the "practicing lawyer" comment and things start sliding out of control.
Rekieta says he was not the only lawyer cringing at July's answers. Nick says that he is open about not practicing so "it is not an effective slight".
He says if July's lawyers advised him on the trespass issue, they were probably "practicing business contract lawyers" (as opposed to practicing business contract lawyers litigating a defamation cases, right Nick?). July should get a second opinion, but he won't because he's "so fucking smart".
Rekieta claims, literally WHILE pouring a drink and licking the bottle, that the reason July made two "cope videos" yesterday was that he was embarrassed about looking bad on Nick's show.
2hr08: Rekieta says that if July is telling the truth, his lawyers are stupid and should "practice themselves into a fucking corner".
A driveway is not private if there is no "No trespassing" signs. With no gate or sign, "that is not private property. Everyone on Earth can have a right to be there. Everybody." (This elides the fact that Riley did not randomly arrive at the business, he drove a long distance to a property where he had reason to believe and really ought to have known he was not wanted. Rekieta says you can't expect him to know.)
In order for Riley to be trespassing, every business owner at the building would need to contact Riley individually and give him separate notice that he is not allowed there. Even then, Rekieta claims that the business owners could not do that, because a single LLC owns the building and the parking lot. This does not even make a lick of sense, since by that standard, any retailer which leases its property could not tell people to leave.
This is when it starts to go off the rails. Rekieta yells that July is lying about the ownership of the property. "You can fucking look it up, RIPPA. But what am I, just a white bread-ass NIGGUH because I tried to clarify what part-nuh meant?"
Nick says that July is probably not even renting the parking lot. If anything, he might be renting access for a few parking spots. "You know how I know? Because I did practice, NIGGUH." Nick then screams about how he has experience in negotiating commercial leases. "I know how they read, HOMIE! I'm not trying to harm you!"
2hr29: Rekieta claims that by Eric's argument, Rekieta, July, YellowFlash, TUG, EVS, Anna, Geeks & Gamers, and Nerdrotic all can be considered to be attacking peoples' businesses as well when they criticize mainstream pop culture like Marvel. After running through that list he says he accepts he may not be able to associate with some of the people on that list because of this dispute.
2hr32: More seething about the non-practicing lawyer comment. I'm omitting this clip because it's duplicative of what he's already said about it but I'll leave the timestamp in case you want to check it out for yourself.
2hr42: Rekieta suggests that Eric July is at risk for going to jail for "charity fraud" because of what he said on Rekieta's stream. Nick doesn't think July actually did, but July's answers may have done so.
He starts screaming at a chatter named GameCaller who said Nick doesn't understand economies of scale. Voice crack alert.
Rekieta says July wanted to answer all questions, mimicking July saying "Ask me anything. I'm so God damn smart". Rekieta says July is "not smart, he's fucking dumb".
He then says July may have admitted to "securities fraud". What the actual fuck? '
He says this is "BASIC LAWYERING" while doing a clap between each syllable.
2hr48: Eric July is the real racist segment. I deleted my notes for this because it was already posted, but I'm posting the time-stamp to give context surrounding the timeline to show that this literally descended into insanity.
Clip and summary in this post:
