I'm all for dark things in fiction and as a writer it's often a lot of fun to really dig into and explore the less savory parts of human existence at a safe remove like that. Studying the human psyche under duress, the outcomes of horror, and the way we survive is fascinating and I can absolutely appreciate when it's done well. For this reason I am firmly in the camp of "exploring something in art doesn't mean you actually like/support/want to engage with those themes irl (regardless of the quality of the work itself)" that BEING SAID...
