Dave knows exactly what to say about his dad because he lives it every day. Just listen to the recording where he patiently lectures his father about the characteristics of narcissism, as calmly as a serial killer. It's frankly terrifying.

It's "vulnerable narcissist" behaviour. He puts himself on a pedestal as a perfect innocent fragile victim and everyone else has wronged him. I do find it hard to tell with TIMs because their autogynephilia and humiliation fetished sometimes show in similar ways: "uwu I am a poor weak dainty feminine flower, validate me and take care of me pwease or else I'll just die" and all that shite. But in Dave's case I think it's both, it's a manipulation tactic and not just because he gets off on it.

How did Dave spend over $1K on takeout in three weeks? Ordering dinner regularly, say $30/meal for 30 days? Or a smaller number of high priced meals (maybe to entertain guests)? I considered Dave ordering wine, but at what point does that become suspicious?

It is really the most brilliant thing about them. They've taken other people's good faith and weaponized it against them and then they blame the victim for acting in bad faith. What's strange is how well it's worked for such an obviously absurd premise: that terrible and abusive men are women.

It seemed pretty obvious to me that if we (as in those of us operating within a certain online class network) declared all women to be infallible victims that some men (male feminists especially) would immediately seek to claim to be women, but I couldn't foresee that people would simply accept this claim. I'm guessing that the reason that Dave's parents went to the authorities, and thus exposed things, is because Dave has a history of promising to not do things if appeased, and then sometimes do them anyway in a threat of petulance. Being framed for child pornography is so life-ruining that Dave's father knew that if Dave had a petulant fit, or just decided to try to use the same threat again for more than they could spare, that his life would be over, so he had no choice. I wonder what Dave threatened that forced them to go to the law to evict him years ago?

Ultimately they're his parents and while it's easy for us to go "what a piece of shit, why haven't they completely dropped him" there's mental barriers to that when it's your own family. It's tragic. I hope it sticks this time but I have a feeling it won't.

Yeah, I've seen that cycling with couples, too. The toxic half finally gets the boot and the healthier half seems to be set on an independent course only to, oh hey guys, we're back together!
