With regard to work visa, they are still issued, but not for Philippine residents. If the embassy of Kuwait in Washington tells you the requirements, you can get a work visa. As far as needing a degree, it was a requirement for Saudi Arabia a while ago, so it might be where she got the information. It was a requirement when KSA was recruiting at my university.
Her challenges are 2 fold. First, Salah will likely have to show why Chantal is necessary for his business. Even, when officials can be bribed, this one would raise suspicion. Second, from what I read, she needs a medical from a local clinic. Here, I believe that it is in Canada, not Kuwait, and the application should be sent to the Kuwait embassy in Canada. I think a work visa for her is a scam too far.
Her only option is a family visa when it becomes available. Right now, only workers in the medical field can obtain visas for their families. It is supposed to open at the end of the year.
There is a lot of confusing information on the net about visas for Kuwait. For her, her only solution is to continue the visa run every 3 months.
This Thailand arc does not make sense. For the first 2 weeks, they were visiting places as most people on holidays do, but since then, she is basically staying in the hotel room, being miserable, and eating. A visa run is simple, get out of the country, then return. There is no reason for her to stay in Thailand now. If she was refused another tourist visa, then staying in Thailand does not make sense either.
