I'm going to say something I said in Moviebob's thread: what you earn depends on what you do, how well you do it, and the ease of replacing you. For example: shitty sci-fi writers are a dime a dozen, so they either earn very little little money, or they have to leech off the family of their second, better wife.

Ugh so I'm on this gay work trip so I can only phonepost rn, but oh boy, my favourite Pest Mr. Honey Badger is giving Pat a hilarious grilling and getting some pure distilled seethium over on the forum, check it out! 🤣

I wonder if he is aware that cost of living varies from state to state.
That is kind of expected in a very big country with widely different demographics, resources and industrialization.

I am not even saying that minimum wages shouldn't be higher because inflation and the recession is hurting the lower class.
I am saying that it needs a delicate touch when you meddle with something as vital as wages.
Not some stupid fat hands writing higher number with crayons into law.

It's my theory that Patrick had some sort of "Revenge of the Nerds" peak moment in, like, 7th grade and he's constantly chasing that feeling. Maybe he "outsmarted" a jock in an argument in front of classmates or got to kiss a girl after lying about his karate moves or some shit. He's insufferably smug, obnoxious, and "tough"(well, his reddit fag version of it anyways), which are qualities only impressive to pre-teens who have no idea what admirable traits are yet. He hasn't grown at all since then. Really look into Pat's stupid face and dead eyes. There's desperation there. He wants to go back.

I suspect he was molested at a young age. When he gets upset or excited, he regressed emotionally to that age.

At least that is my crackpot theory.

"Patrick is a victim of CSA" is a theory that has not crossed my mind until now, and I don't think I've seen it discussed before.

CSA victims often grow up to have abnormal sexuality, so if he's really "into things" I suppose that would add up. That could maybe explain why he uses "child" as an insult so much.

Rather disturbing to ponder, to be honest.

Regarding Dan's transcripts:

My understanding is court reporters are independent contractors selected by the judges and charge whatever they want for court recordings, I need court transcripts years ago 4 pages costed $200 and she insisted on a cashiers check for some reason would not take a personal check, I thought that was a bit much for such a short amount of information but I guess they charge whatever they feel is appropriate. I know people think he's an A-log but I enjoy Dan's podcasts and he seems to make patrick really really mad and Jackie is deathly afraid of him, like genuinely concerned he will come to Puerto Rico and find her, that itself is really funny conisdering she's possibly schizophrenic.

When PCJ did his AMA on the onaforums years ago, somebody asked him if Patrick "childed" people when he knew Pat. He said No, that must be a recent development.

Comedian Jim Florentine has done a third roast of one of piggy's tweets on his podcast. This time it was the lie about Mama Raven (Pat's mom) going to a Slipknot concert:
Only tangentially related but this guy has that thing that happens to old people where they completely lose track of time in pop culture terms, he talks about a slipknot concert as if they were a recent thing when IOWA came out over two decades ago and only like 15 years after the last big slayer album.
These "we don't serve Nazis here!" bars are always disgusting shitholes. [...]

I ended up in just such a bar a few summers ago to see an exe's brother play with his band. Just to wind them up, I carved a huge swastika in the bathroom on one of the stall doors with my keys when I was drunk and added "Jews are gay lmao" under it.

dude its literally just an allegiance signal to lefty retards, and a way to identify yourself as a corpo safe edgy. Its cringe, but if you get this pozzed by it you are a bigger lolcow than the people who put this up.

Alright, well if Mr. Mullen opens it up for donos, I'll throw down. There is no doubt in my mind that Fatso had a meltdown in front of the judge, and the fact that he tried to appeal it same day and showed up for the de Novo hearing makes that a certainty.

And actual court certified reporters who use an actual steno machine are rare as hen's teeth these days. The company isn't just paid for the transcription but for the stenographer. I did something very similar (using electronic and taped recordings) and at least pre-2000 could often make over $1,000 in a night on a good night (although this was usually a long dusk to dawn slog).

There's much more expensive transcribing services you can get, too. For instance, large companies like Veritext can even get you a full deposition transcript that is ready right after the hearing concludes, complete with an index of every word at the end, in an electronic format and a paper format, so the index can be used on paper for boomers who don't like electronic formats.

Something like this can run tens of thousands, especially for lengthy/multi-day depositions of experts using lots of technical terms in complex litigation, because you not only need a team of very fast reporters but they have to know the technical language as well.

A good court reporter can make substantially more than an average lawyer.

These prices may look high but they're well within the range for a mid-range city using actual court reporters. Remember you're not just paying for the actual document but the overhead that most of these documents never even get transcribed unless they're needed in an appeal or some motion.

It's a lot cheaper if they're not actually using court reporters, but just set it and forget it audio recording where the transcriptionist can do it from home.

AI is probably soon going to wreck a lot of this business to the extent it hasn't already, but there will always be some need for it because some audio recordings are absolute shit thanks to room noise or bad acoustic or bad equipment.
