It is clear that there was a spanner thrown in their plan to return to Kuwait, but for whom?

I think it is unlikely to be Salah. While it is possible that Kuwait would want to remove Syrians from the country, he does not seem to be someone that they would target; no criminal record, has employment, and family in Kuwait.

So, it must be Chantal. I think she was denied a travel visa, and they are working to get a working visa. She cannot have a family visa at this time. The expensive clinic she went to might have included all the tests needed for the application. Of course, as expected, she failed, I am not sure why she is staying in Bangkok.

Salah had enough of Thailand and wants to return home but Chantal wants him to stay. I am sure not all is well in Chez Chantal. I am also sure that his dream to see Canadian snow is fading away. Her only option is to return to Canada and for Salah to Kuwait. A quick check shows a one-way ticket to Montreal is $1,500 through Dubai or Doha. She could always say that she is going back to Canada to expedite Salah’s sponsorship to Canada, or that Salah will need some time to finalise her family or working visa. She should be contacting Peetz for him to find a semi-permanent place in Cornwall.

Salad should now play the long game. Do the marriage, tend to his wife until her soul finally escapes its gunted coil and hitch a ride back with the skip her body is in. Once that coffin of rotting fat and grease hits Canadian soil, his asylum is a lock. He's suffered this far, he needs to just endure a little while longer.

I wouldn't really read into Chantal having possible visa issues at this juncture. The maximum tourist visa is 60 days, and they entered Thailand towards the end of August, so there's still a good 3-4 weeks until they run their visa down. I think the time to start speculating about visa issues in Kuwait is when Salad fucks off back to Kuwait and leaves her there, or if they go somewhere else after their Thai visas end.

Is it weird that my first instinct was to call bullshit? Everything he says sounds like a mix of things that sound plausible (the Thailand trip is coinciding with the fact her tourist visa is about to expire) and things that sound too good to be true in a bid to start the cycle of Haydur Nation talking about something and Chantal going on a seething rampage in response (like saying Salah has lost everything worth a damn as a result of his relationship with Chantal).

I’m reminded of the Twitter folks who were going to customs in regards to things like Chantal’s use of a tourist visa and her and Salah on camera in the same house together while single, in an attempt to get her and/or Salah arrested and deported. Really trying what one could describe as way too fucking hard.

Canadians visiting Thailand are visa exempt for 30 days so there would have been no reason for Chantal to obtain a visa unless they were planning a longer trip than that. Getting an extension for her stay is simple, though.

The biggest indication that there is a problem is Chantal's comment that Salah want to return to Kuwait. Why are they still in Thailand if that's the case? Chantal is clearly not enjoying being there.

That she's a deathfat isn't the problem; that she's in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings and can't sponsor his entry into Canada is. He should have ended the charade the moment he found out about that, and moved on to another fatty.

He can still end it at any time, just by going back to Kuwait and declaring he's divorced her. But then he'd have to face what an idiot and laughingstock he is, try to patch things up with all of his now-estranged friends and family, and go back to doing food deliveries while living in shitty bachelor housing. As bad and embarrassing as life with "big box" Chantal is, it's still going to be worse without her.

Unfortunately for him, Muslim burials must take place very quickly after death, typically within 24 hours. He has no family members willing to do the required ritual cleaning and shrouding of the body (and physically, they just can't), so he's going to have to pay a lot extra to have that done, or rely on charity (I assume such exists).

If he gets enough warning that her death is imminent, he could contact Kim, who might be able to scrape together the money to have Chantal's remains transported back to Canada, but that would cost a fortune. She'd be better off giving Salah the money to have Chantal buried in Kuwait. He's not going to be able to afford to accompany Chantal's body to Canada, even if that happens, and I don't see Chantal's family paying for that.

Cremation is haram, so not a possibility.

Yes, but they will have had to go through the visa process for Salad anyway, so it makes sense that she'd just organise the longer, 60 day visa for her, especially if they knew that Salad could stay for 30 days longer through his (worth noting too that as a Canaidan, her visa was probably just a formality, and a fast one at that). I know the two of them are idiots, but I'm certain if the two of them put their brains together they'd know that overstaying her visa would end all hope of her getting back to Kuwait, as overstaying your visa gets you flagged when applying for visas at other countries, or when you try to enter other countries (I lived abroad for a period of time, and every time I renewed my visa I had to declare whether or not I'd ever overstayed any visa. They also performed a background check to make sure you weren't lying about it. If I remember correctly, it's usually a box you have to tick on a tourist entry card when arriving at countries that make you fill it out, although admittedly, I haven't been anywhere where I've needed to fill one of those out for a few years). She's clearly just pissed off because of something else that'll come to light at some point

ETA: If the original plan was just 30 days, Salah would've had to leave by now due to prearranged flights at the end of Chantal's 30-day visa. We all know they can't afford additional tickets. Most airlines only offer a full refund for the first 24 hours post-booking, and will either charge an increasing fee based on the time since you made the booking, or flat out refuse to refund beyond that. They likely would've had to buy two additional tickets and bite the bullet on the pre-arranged flights for your scenario to be true. To me, Chantal just getting a 60 day visa because Salad was getting one anyway makes so much more sense
