I’ll throw out a theory as to why Dax is obsessed with Eric: Dax doesn’t take anything seriously to the point that he hates it/finds it mockable when someone does take something really serious.

Like for whatever faults Eric may or may not have, he clearly takes getting this comic business running successfully seriously. Like he’s 100% committed. And for someone like Dax, who seems to just treat everything as one big joke, cynically or otherwise, maybe just thinks anyone who actually tries or cares about something is stupid and worthy of mockery. Or it could also tie into the jealousy too, in a “how dare you actually care about something, I’m going to fuck with you until you’re just as miserable and aimless as I am”.

But that’s literally just me throwing on a tinfoil hat and playing armchair psychologist.

The whole Eric July thing has long run it’s course and has just turned into spergery. For me it was only funny when Dick started getting into it, when he got Dame Pesos and Mundane Matt to call in. Since then it just seems like he’s doing to Eric what Maddox did to him, but more openly.

How it started

Due to some confusion around how all this began, I tried to look for the earliest interaction between Dax and Eric. Kept seeing things referenced but couldn't find any archives, so here's what I found.

TLDW: It’s surprisingly similar to the recent Nick and Eric stream. The problem here is Dax has no pre-existing relationship with Eric so when he attempts to compliment him after all the insults it falls flat. Most of it feels like Dax is attempting some IBS style fight but Eric is clueless to the rules so instead ends up just confused and aggravated with his dishonesty. Dax seems genuinely mad when his praise of Eric at the end isn’t reciprocated. He only left when he turned the whole stream against him by defending pedophiles.

Some of what Maddox did was unforgivably pathetic, like trying to smear Dick as a rape apologist because of an 8chan board and an out of context clip from Biggest Problem, but without Maddox's perspective we really only have Dick's word for it, which is revealing itself to be increasingly unreliable. It's also made me recontextualise Maddox's response (or lack thereof) to Dick. Initially, the reason I thought he'd stayed silent on all this shit was partly because he was involved in litigation and also because he'd become so buck broken because of the LOLsuit. Now I think he probably says very little because he knows Dick thrives on attention and giving it to him is just going to generate content for his show. I think Eric July is too eager to respond to everything that happens to him because of Dick and Vito, when in reality the best tactic would be to starve them of content until they get bored and move on to someone else.

Dicks half-hearted defense of his actions seem to imply if Eric stopped responding Dick would have no choice but to move on. I do think Eric should stop giving Dick stuff to work with.

I'd like for Isom to be a shitty comic that gets better. There is time for that to be possible. I'd like for Dick and Vito to be a shitty comedy duo that gets better. I think time is running out for that though.

Vito has been shitting on the Friday Night Tights crew for years, trying to get their attention. He was trying to get their show flagged when they had Alex Jones on.

July is friendly with those people so, naturally, Vito has been applying the same strategy. Shit on someone, get them to have you on their show, concern troll and advertise.

July had Vito on as a detractor last year, didn't refer to him by name and muted him when he tried to shill his book.

Juju went all in on this rather recently, shitting on July and "reviewing" ISOM (=doing some Hollywood exec style notes, quite embarrassing). Ethan Van Sciver, being an eternal fan of dick, drooled all over the review and started saying everywhere that July should listen to it. This led to further escalation and the charity accusations.

EDIT: Forgot the most important context: both of July's campaigns did multiple millions of dollars each. That's why they're all involved in this.
