Well, it can lead to funny... but only if both sides are trying to argue law. Independent of whether they are lawyers are not. There's some historical context here as to what Nick trying to do.

Nick was trying to recreate his famous "debate" with Shane Holmberg. The one that moved him beyond Maddox and Tonkasaw, and into Weebwars. He was likely hoping that this would then transition him into the grift Dick is running at July's expenses.

The reason why Nick vs. Shane was so funny is because Shane went in with legal arguments and got a lot of things wrong (yes, even if Vic ultimately lost). Shane was there to white knight a bunch of bitches. He wasn't even a main character in the Vic situation. He was an orbiter. Like Duncan was for Keffals years later. At that point, Shane didn't think Nick was a real lawyer and thought he could pull one over on Nick using legal arguments that were fed to him by his Discord in real time. There were jokes made for years afterwards about the shoe on Shane's cutting board, the Fisher-Price stove next to his desk, and the dilapidated state of Shane's chair.

OTOH, July is absolutely a main character in his own situation, and wasn't really trying to make this whole thing a legal argument. July was mainly arguing apples, whereas Nick wanted to make it all about oranges. July is a guy who is having his business fucked with by a gagglefuck of idiots and wants it to stop. July is at least somewhat likable and sympatheic. Nobody liked Shane the shoe-eater and his simping for the anime voice actresses. Not even KickVic liked Shane.

That's the difference. Wrong target. Wrong tactics. Wrong everything. The stream shouldn't have even happened. Nick was disingenuous as all hell on a very fundamental level. Shane ended with jokes at Shane's expense and the beginning of Weebwars (including our own subforum) and a lot of money coming Nick's way. After asking about Rekeita's parents the other day a link was posted that has some videos from his dad's YouTube. The first video I watched was the Christmas highlights 2012 and in the first seconds it just shows Nick in the background on his phone, ignoring the kids. Nothing has changed.

At some point after, Eric steps up to defend himself and the 17.50 number by saying it actually cost less because people bought more than 1 at a time. The charity also puts out a statement that they are happy with the donation. At some point the 13 dollar figure as an avergae comes out.

To this, Dick calls FRAUD because 'Where ate the 4 dollars going?' Eric tries to explain that he donated the difference to the charity because 17.50 was just w guess up front for costs to ship a single book. Dick does not believe this and insists the number is still overinflated.

I doubt it's fraud, but $17.50 is way too much for one comic sold at cost. Either Eric has a really trash printing contract, which happens as sometimes people start with one printer and stay with them not realizing you can switch to one with more volume to have less than half the cost, or Eric is factoring in a lot of other costs like artist royalties, employee labor costs, warehousing, etc. I'd think Eric would have asked the artists to drop royalties for charity and the like, but who knows.

Realistically I'd guess $5-10 is probably cost to print a book with his volume, but there are other costs as well after that.
