I am not sure how scummy it is when it works to solve cases. It does seem to have led to some false confessions. In wake of St George "criminal justice reform," some states have passed laws stipulating cops cannot do that to minors.

Spouses, boy friends and girl friends are always the prime suspect until there is evidence pointing to someone else. On the other hand, it is hard to get a conviction without a body. It is possible. I would understand him not wanting people to know about the kids, honestly it's good to keep that kind of stuff private. It was strongly implied in the clip where he said she gave him everything that matters in life (children) so now he basically doesn't care if she disappears forever. Also the motive could be that she barged into the stream holding one of the kids and he killed her in a fit of rage.

Recently the courts determined 20 year / life sentences were unconstitutional, so even if he does get busted for this, the most he'll probably get is 10 years. Like with every retarded anti crime rule, career criminals and people who've done research how to commit their crimes won't fall for it, while retarded criminals will probably leave a wealth of evidence behind making it unnecessary. And in the end it's a moral issue, if I can't trust the cop I'm speaking with to not lie with to my face, how should I trust any part of the investigation to be above board?
