Not sure, school/car/home/babysitter. Considering he seems pretty adamant on not letting people know they had children it was a surprise to find out they had two. I suspect that what "the rule" was that she almost broke (entering the studio with baby in tow). Not sure how old they are, I get the sense from reading the locals facebook posts who knew her that they are both very young, ~toddler age. If they're old enough to talk I'm sure the police would want to speak with them. Not sure how it works in tranada but if major crimes is investigating like the RCMP states they wouldn't just talk to kids, they would likely get a forensic interviewer from CPS or the advocacy center to conduct the interview, especially if they suspect she was murdered.

If he hasn't confessed and they have no body, he believes he is simply the right combination of magic words away from allaying all of their concerns. He doesn't realize that once they peg a suspect as an arrogant midwit the SOP becomes: keep the dumbass talking. The more he says the more likely it is they will find inconsistencies or he will disclose something only the killer would know. You don't want to convey disbelief or confront the person until you've got them dead to rights.

I wonder if he even understands the kind of data LE gets about phone usage? They may not be able to say exactly what they were doing on the phone but it is trivial to differentiate between someone actually using the phone and it pinging in an idle mode. If he "knows she was using her phone for two days" it's pretty damning if it aligns with bandwidth going from normal use to just idle pings. I'd bet they either didn't mention the phone usage first, or he is wildly extrapolating a non-committal statement. You might mention you are looking into/will look into the records but you wouldn't give the level of detail he is already claiming. Worst case it looks like JFG doesn't care, there might be inconsistencies that arise as his explanation evolves, or he might've already said too much and made it clear he did something terrible.

It was an attempt, I never said it was a good attempt.

The point is, he is attempting to be very specific about the words. Perhaps he feels under pressure.

Ultimately, who knows what happened - but JFG should expect his life is going to be investigated with a fine tooth comb based on his own statements. He is a smart guy, but he's also very smug and I think potentially underestimates others.

high iq doesn't always mean you're smart in every way, you can still have various mental illnesses or personality disorders that make you say and do retarded things despite being smart in other situations

I would understand him not wanting people to know about the kids, honestly it's good to keep that kind of stuff private. It was strongly implied in the clip where he said she gave him everything that matters in life (children) so now he basically doesn't care if she disappears forever.
