But, if we were to use their standards, this is basically statistics of measurable weight. How many studies of the success of trans surgeries taken from a sample size of half a dozen do they flout as the authority?I hate to rain on the parade, but that study was done with a single person. Now I wish that more large scale studies could be done, but with an N=1 study I doubt that it is a miracle cure for everyone. However it probably is for some, and should be studied at a larger scale. If only we didn't live in a hellhole that criminilised studying non-transition treatments for gender dysphoria.
Also one thing to note is the man in that study was given therapy affirming him as a man, telling him to retain his male identity. Today, a therapist who did that could probably get their license taken away. Even with that, the internet gives some mental maladaptations more staying power than they would have otherwise, as the internet lets you talk to others with the same maladaptations, and have them tell you its actually a good thing.
On a side note, the full article suspiciously does not download on sci-hub, which may just be a glitch but I am pretty sure that website is ran by troons. I have downloaded it in its entirety and reuploaded it here.
In any case, I'm sure this was a study whose sails were cut well before launch. Multiply that by 30 years of LGBT advocates dunking on it as essentially a "myth," and you have a potential cure that essentially failed to launch because... transphobia. They're still trying to wipe away the DSM-IV stench of it being a disorder (but also keeping it close because it brings access to what they really want, which are the hormones and surgeries).
