I don't think Israel is going to fall. It might take them a couple of days, but they'll rally and have any invaded territory under control by the end of next week.

A key thing to remember about Middle Eastern militaries is they're shit by design. A lot of dictatorships came into power through military coups, which has the unfortunate side effect of these guys not trusting their armies out of fear it will happen to them. So a way to mitigate that particular threat is to keep your commanders isolated from each other. They don't talk to each other and they can't coordinate. But a side effect of that is they cant support each other on the battlefield. A prime example of this is the Iran/Iraq War and how it lasted ten years without either side making any significant gains.

So to reiterate what I said in the beginning, these guys have however long it takes Israel to get its shit together to do whatever they want. After that, game over.

I very much doubt they ever intended to seriously hold any of the ground they took. It was a raid, not an offensive, I'm sure Hamas knows they have no capability to defend foreign ground even on their best day. They probably just left their designated martyrs in a few buildings to kill as many Israelis as they could and slow down the response as much as possible and brought back anybody who would be even mildly useful.

The city i'm in is one of the most dangerous in north america (top 5 or top 10 last i checked) so yeah. I know that feel lol. I have really nice rifles, pistol, and pistol carbine with plenty of ammo. keep a low profile, most neighbors don't really know anything about me other than i'm polite. They don't know what i do, where i work, what my hobbies are, and never see me order anything because i get nothing delivered to my home directly that isn't grocery delivery. Even my living room is empty except for a weight bench and a folding table because when i open my door I don't want any one to see anything worth anything.
