You hear shooting happening nearby and they're all still sound asleep. They must've been drunk off their asses or something. Gunshots and explosions aren't a thing you can just sleep through.

I don't think the IDF being caught pants down is a massive shock. Afghanistan was an active combat zone for most people deployed, it's different to what the IDF are normally dealing with. It's more like northern ireland than anything America has had to deal with. The constant, low level exposure to threat, in the form of what is essentially policing action, can breed a reliance on pre-emptive intelligence to deal with incoming issues, rather than a posture of constant readiness.
It's how the IRA got so many bombings done, and I imagine that the IDF is undergoing something similar.

Supporters of Israel claim that Hamas has been pushed back into the Gaza Strip.

Note that the blue territory doesn't claim military occupation or Hamas control it's just claiming Hamas soldiers are present in the area.

Nevertheless it was a massive mistake for your leadership to disengage from Gaza and Southern Lebanon, the constant warfare in those areas kept your officers in a state of readiness and helped train your conscripts in an actual combat environment. The West Bank for example is much more calm because it has been converted into a massive concentration camp in which the IDF constanly does raids and keeps the Arab population supressed. Instead by isolating Gaza, it has been converted intro a cauldron full of militant Arabs that have no other reason of existance from killing Jews. Now, probably due to foreign pushing as mentioned before, this cauldron has erupted.

He definitely wasn’t giving off the energy of someone who was escaping a country that plunged into war overnight.

I can already see that this is going to become his only personality trait and all he talks about for a very long time. The flippant way some of these people are documenting their experience as if it’s a “day in my life as a ______” vlog. Get on your plane and go home, bro. You aren’t even an influencer and even if you were, you can chill for one day while major shit is going down and people are dying. More on topic, it’s crazy to me that these people are still fighting over a shitty strip of land in the middle of a desert. Just goes to show that no matter how advanced we become as a society, we never really move forward. We’re still having tribalistic land disputes like technology more modern than the arrowhead had never been invented. Somebody needs to split the shit down the middle and tell everyone to shut up lol

(I get that it’s more complicated than that but you couldn’t give me a middle eastern country for free, let alone get me to fight for it.)
