Last year, Israel raided the Al Aqsa mosque as a result of muslims throwing rocks at police and then barricading themselves inside. Israel used tear gas and arrested hundreds of people.

This year police raided the mosque again in April. But when I read news articles from the last 2 days about this they only mention last year's incident and not this year's incident. That suggests to me palestinians were agressors last year, israelis this year and now palestinians again.

But that's just my speculation.

We don't know, it has sort of the same problem as the entirety of NATO - it hasn't been tested in an actual ground conflict since 90s or 80s. They've been relying on superior technology for everything forgetting that you can silently pass a written note without broadcasting it through radio.

I think we’re rapidly going to see which side of this particular argument is correct, in terms of whether or not Hamas had been playing 4D chess or if Israel is going to flatten everything to the Med. If they fucking blow tunnels underneath approaching troops and wipe out chunks of the Israeli counterattack, they’ve thought this through and might be able to put enough blood in the water that Israel is going to have bigger problems. But… if they get pushed back and it turns out they haven’t prepared for that, they’re pretty fucked.

As for if this was all allowed to happen… I’m going to tentatively say that I don’t think so, because I’ve not seen any evidence that they set this up. From what I've heard this seems to be the case. Hamas apparently largely carried out this op without much use of electronics, using letters and guys traveling by bike and shit. Not much Mossad or Shin Bet (for those unaware Shin Bet typically deals more with domestic intelligence in Israel, Mossad functions more on an international level. Think CIA and FBI) could intercept without having guys on the ground which can be hard to do in more of a tight knit group like Hamas since most if not all the dudes in that group are true and honest believers and most Palestinian civilians are in complete support of Hamas and their ideals.

I'm disagreeing on the part where the PR situation remains unchanged. For decades, the West had kept Israel from going full Holocaust for human rights reasons, which is why a lot of normies held to the two-state solution.
