Gawker Media - Feat. Kotaku, Jezebel, and Friends

Buy the domain name and have it redirect to this;

If Univision is getting ownership of the gawker.com domain, but don't have any immediate plans to use it, it would be hilarious if they just redirected it to a popular Spanish luchador wrestling league page or something.
It'll probably redirect to Univision.com

For all of Gawker's whining, they didn't lose because they lacked a lawyer or money to defend themselves. Peter Thiel didn't keep getting defendants to sue them until Gawker could no longer afford to go to court. They had their day and lost.
A billionaire didn't run them out of business, their editors and writers did.

The crazy thing is courts are generally sympathetic to members of the media. They might have won if Denton hadn't decided it would be a brilliant idea to bring his smug sociopath persona into the courtroom.

That, and the fact Gawker burnt more bridges than you can count probably didn't help. The outing of the one Conde Nast CEO and Gawker's subsequent childish way of reacting to justified criticism was probably the last straw for a lot of folks. They made TMZ look reputable in comparison after that one.

Personally I loved the irony that Gawker, who thrived on such ratfucking maneuvers as paying unidentified people to anonymously leak each others emails, sex tapes and embarrassing private communications, was destroyed in PUBLIC court where everything is transparent and upfront.... and yet THEY were the ones screaming "foul" because they were targeted by someone with an 'agenda' .

Nothing was lost.

Nothing was learned.

Hulk was the last straw but I think it was interesting that "Bring Back Bullying" was the beginning of the end as it caused a fuckload of advertisers to pull out.

Today is Gawker.com's final day online. Its editorial staff has elected not to go into the great beyond with grace, but with the kicking and screaming of a petulant child. These "articles", posted today, is what Gawker sheds its mortal coil with.

Goodbye, Gawker, and good riddance.

There are a lot of thoughts possible to have about this final moment of Gawker's existence, but what I like is
"lol kys."

Daulerio did far more damage with his flippant answers. The case went from likely to lose to slam dunk with his testimony.

He utterly disgusted the jury with his comments about how a child would have to be four years old before he wouldn't be okay with putting a sex tape of them up. I am pretty sure the jury wanted to jump out of the box and curb stomp him and every other defendant at that point.

It is gratifying to see Gawker going out in an undignified tantrum shitting themselves in impotent rage.

Someone on youtube brought up an interesting point in that Daulerio's testimony comes off even worse in the court transcripts since the stenographer only types out the exact words and not mention the tone in which words are spoken in.

The jury was there to watch him. He comes across as a complete douche in the video too.
