The IDF is spending it's resources to target what it believes are strategic targets, valuable Hamas infrastructure. If they were targeting civilians or just attacking indiscriminately don't you think they would just be sending every last piece ordinance to just carpet bomb the place? That's a hell of a lot easier than trying to find Hamas.

The United states dropped thousands of leaflets prior to the bombing, the leaflets specifically warned they had nuclear weapons and explained in Japanese very clearly they should evacuate cities while they had the chance, civilians were not the target. Please educate yourself on this subject, public schools have not done their job, apparently.

theres nowhere for them to evacuate. Its a fucked up situation where Egypt is blocking them, Israel is blocking them, and there's no bunkers.
Sending leaflets in that context is more of a PR move.

Sending texts, when only limited Palestinians have cellphones (I think its something like 70% of adults?), let alone they don't have power to charge their phones at this point, is kind of just a PR move.

Even so, Id say the root of the dilemma is more on Hamas' hands. They purposely use civilian apartments to launch rockets at Israel, they launch military operations from hospitals, theres no clothed soldiers, theyre all uninformed, etc. Basically, they do everything they can to break every international convention on war, and then cry foul.

There's not much choice on Israels part- they have to bomb this infrastructure, civilians included, because attacks are being launched from it. They could go in without bombing things, but it would be immensely costly to their own soldiers to not soften up defences beforehand. As it is, they are going to march there (for the first time in a long time), so it will be a bloody conflict regardless.

Hamas does this to its civilians on purpose, basically holding them hostage so they can get a PR win "Israel is massacring civilians while fighting hamas", but its literally like hamas tying their own people to the front of tanks and then yelling about "why are you killing civilians".

Fucked up situation overall, but I think they really overplayed their hand because Israel is livid.

This is my big takeaway from all this. If Hamas had just launched a massive assault on IDF installations and nothing else, I think the outside rhetoric would be much more even-handed and return to the status quo about the mistreatment of Palestinians much sooner. Collateral damage (and the propaganda that results from it) is one thing, but obvious terrorism is another.

Normally, I could give two shits about all this, except for the fact that Israel seems fully willing to go Scorched-Earth over the attack. Unfortunately, I think that's gonna be the best possible outcome here; rip off the Band-Aid and let this be the Hiroshima/Nagasaki moment for Palestine/Hamas. If there's anything Post-WWII warfare has shown, it's that if you're gonna go, go all the way. Taking half-measures over fear of sociopolitical flak just costs more money, and gets more people killed further down the line.

As an American, I'm more interested in how this is going to shake things up here. Palestine is definitely going to be a line in the sand for the center-left and far-left, as well as people pissed off about Ukraine spending. I don't see this ending well for Biden's support.

Are there any updates on the Thai nationals missing? I know it was reported 18 dead 11 missing, I assume they are awaiting the same fate as the missing Americans. Theres videos of an Asian man being beheaded but not much actual news.

Im kind of curious about this too but enjoying seeing the shitlib civil war because so many of them automatically jumped on Palestinian dick at the start of this, like they always do with BLM and other groups, and now are suffering the social consequences.
I just wish we had the same reaction to BLM as we do with this.

This is one where all that stuff? Its not getting swept under the rug because of the nature of the conflict probably due to the whole zionist support we have within the upper echelons here, so I get to laugh a little bit this week when things start to go wrong for said crowd and maybe some people peak a little bit.

in general, the idea of "popular uprising" is mostly a meme, fabricated by leftist media to romanticize, glorify and justify events such as the french revolution, the russian revolution, and a bunch of other similar coups and power grabs.
in reality, successful 'uprisings' and 'revolutions' are mainly just the visible result of some rival political faction succeeding in shifting the balance of power in its favor. there is no such thing as "and then one day the people decided to throw off their vile oppressors!" especially not in a country that is currently under siege by a widely despised foreign enemy. whatever anti hamas factions exist in gaza, i'm 99% sure that they are just as anti israel as hamas itself is, so siding with the little satan against hamas is not something they would consider.

Have to agree with you. It looks like a smoke projectile, which explode much closer to the ground. WP explodes high above the skyline. The biggest inconsistency is that WP glows blindingly white when it rains down.

WP usually contains felt pieces that glow white when descending and fall about as slowly as you’d expect felt to fall, whereas the shrapnel or whatever from this smoke projectile ricochets off the ground at a high speed. I could be wrong because Israel has used WP before.
